Raptors vs Knicks picks and predictions

Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.

Spread analysis

Like other regular-season finales on tonight's NBA betting board, tonight's contest between the Raptors and Knicks is a tough one to handicap.

New York has been eliminated from playoff contention for some time and Toronto is locked into the East's No. 5 seed. With that said, they're not expected to sit any key starters. While OG Anunoby is listed as questionable, Fred VanVleet is probable and is expected to suit up for the otherwise-healthy Raptors.

The Knicks, on the other hand, are quickly reaching unrecognizable status. With Julius Randle, Derrick Rose, Cam Reddish, Kemba Walker, Nerlens Noels, and now RJ Barrett all shut down for the season, the Knicks have had to rely on Evan Fournier, Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, and Alec Burks for the bulk of their scoring.

Those already limited options will be in tough against the Raptors, who boast the NBA's second-best defensive rating across their last 11 contests (9-2 SU, 7-4 ATS), limiting teams to a league-best 104.5 points across that stretch.

While New York's youth has led to a handful of late-season victories, its two most recent wins have come against Washington and Orlando, two teams far removed from any playoff conversation.

The Knicks' defense ranks eighth over their last 10 games but with this being the last game of the season, and having absolutely nothing to play for, this contest is a mere formality. Don't expect anywhere near maximum effort.

With a plethora of better scoring options, a suffocating defense, and the momentum of a strong late-season run, the Raptors should have no problems controlling this game from tip-off to the final buzzer. Lay the number.

Prediction: Raptors -4.5 (-118 at 888sport

Over/Under analysis

This total is a weird one and one that should probably get left alone, but it currently stands at 216 — way down from the opening 221.5-point number.

Funny enough, these teams have a combined 81-81 Over/Under record but for this regular-season finale, I'm going to ever-so-slightly lean to the Over.

As mentioned above, the Raps and Knicks have been among the strongest defensive units over their past 10 games, but with tonight's circumstances, we shouldn't expect anything close to the effort that has propelled them to those marks — especially with the Knicks.

Toronto is averaging 117 points per game over its last nine and have gone Over in three of its last four with the one Under hitting by just half a point.

With this low of a number, we'll back the Over one last time.

Prediction: Over 216 (-110 at WilliamHill)

Best bet

Barring some of Toronto's starters being unexpectedly ruled out prior to tip-off, I'm sticking with them as the best bet.

NYK will be on some version of auto-pilot as their ugly season comes to an end and while Nick Nurse certainly won't push his starters to the brink tonight, a standard rotation won't be needed to do away with what's left of the Knicks.
