Latest NBA Picks

The red-hot Phoenix Suns go gunning for their sixth win in a row, when they visit the slumping Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, November 24.

Phoenix enters as a 7-point road favorite in the NBA odds, after thumping the Golden State Warriors 123-115 on Wednesday night.

The Grizz, meanwhile, have lost three of their last four, including a 20-point drubbing at the hands of the Houston Rockets last time out.

Suns vs Grizzlies predictions

Kevin Durant is on fire right now. The lanky, all-world forward put up another stellar showing in the win over G-State, pumping in 32 points, with eight boards, two assists, and two blocks.

KD shot 50% from the field, including 3-for-4 from distance, and set up shop at the free throw line, drilling all 15 of his freebies.

He’s now scored at least 31 points in five straight games — a stretch he hasn’t matched since a five-game run from Dec 10-30 in 2021-22 campaign.

Durant has cracked the 30-point plateau in eight of 11 November games, averaging 32.9 points on a blistering 54.1% from the field and 58.5% from downtown.

This will be his first look at the Grizzlies, who still have forever to go before Ja Morant returns from his 25-game suspension — and it clearly shows.

They’re 17th in scoring defense, giving up 114 points per game, while allowing teams to shoot an NBA-best 40.8% from 3-point range.

Plans to offset those defensive liabilities aren’t going well either, with Memphis scoring just 107.4 points per game, the third-lowest figure in the NBA. Those are big reasons why the Grizz are off to an 0-6 start at home this year.

While it’s true there’s no one that can stop Durant when he’s cooking, the Grizzlies don’t even have the athletic wings that can make life difficult for him. Jaren Jackson Jr is a great defender, but KD, even at 35, is too agile for JJJ in space, away from the rim.

Durant is the league’s premier bucket-getter, and its second-leading scorer — he shouldn’t have a problem getting his against a Grizzlies side that currently sits 14th in the Western Conference.

My best bet: Kevin Durant Over 30.5 points (-104 at FanDuel)

Suns vs Grizzlies same-game parlay

Kevin Durant Over 30.5 points

Devin Booker Over 7.5 assists

Eric Gordon Over 2.5 threes made

Let’s ride with a couple of Durant running mates to make this a nice three-leg SGP.

Start with co-star Devin Booker, who has been a boon as the lead ball handler for a point guard-less lineup. Book has finished Under 30 points in four straight games, but he’s been wildly effective.

Last game against the Dubs, he went for 25 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. That was his third double-digit assist game on the year, and he’s averaging a smooth 9.5 dimes per game.

With KD assuming the scoring role, Booker has displayed an impressive all-around game, with bumps in scoring, assists, and rebounds from last season.

Look for him to keep Durant well fed Friday.

And let’s finish with their de facto third star, Eric Gordon. With Bradley Beal still on the mend with a bad back, Gordon has been the beneficiary of the heavy attention given to Durant and Booker.

He’s made hay in this role, as a release valve on the perimeter that can knock down the 3-ball at a solid rate.

Gordon's hitting 41% from beyond the arc in November, and has gone over his total of 2.5 makes in five of the last six games.

He should find plenty of open looks from distance — Gordon has averaged seven 3-point attempts in his last six games, and against the NBA’s worst 3-point defenders, expect him to possibly top this mark by halftime.

Suns vs Grizzlies spread and Over/Under analysis

In October, the Suns were 1.5-point underdogs in this matchup, but oh, how the tides have turned. Every book is sitting with Phoenix as a 6-point favorite or higher: We got them at -7 on FanDuel, but you can fish around and find a 7.5-point line.

Pheonix is 7-7-1 against the spread this year, while the Grizzlies have only covered in five of 14 games on the season.

The teams are 5-5-0 ATS in their last 10, though Memphis has covered in four of the last six matchups. In fact, the Grizzlies have covered the spread in each of their last 10 games as home underdogs against Western Conference opponents.

As for the total, it opened as high as 228 points, but that has been lowered to around 223.5 points.

Part of that might have to do with Memphis guard Desmond Bane as a game-time decision with a left foot sprain. He’s the offensive hub with Morant out.

The Over has gone 11-4-0 in Suns games on the year, and 6-8-0 for the Grizz.
