The injury-riddled Golden State Warriors head to Motown tonight to face the Detroit Pistons on the front end of a back-to-back.

With the likes of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Dennis Schroder all questionable for the Dubs, I’m expecting Cade Cunningham to take advantage of the visitors in my Warriors vs. Pistons predictions.

Keep reading for my NBA picks for Thursday, January 9.

Warriors vs Pistons prediction

My best bet
Cade Cunningham Over 25.5 points (+100 at bet365)

My analysis
The Detroit Pistons are actually above .500 for once, and Cade Cunningham is a big reason why. The former first-overall pick is enjoying a solid campaign, averaging 24 points per game on 37.2% shooting from 3-point land. While Cunningham has only hit the Over in points in three of his last seven, there’s reason to believe he’ll show out tonight.

The Golden State Warriors are likely going to be very shorthanded. Aside from Steph, Draymond, and Schroder on the injury report, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and Gary Payton have already been ruled out here. Moses Moody is also questionable.

That’s most of the Dubs rotation who may not suit up. This presents a clear opportunity for Cunningham to show out. For what it's worth, he scored 32 and 40 against the Blazers and Timberwolves before a 13-point performance on Wednesday against Brooklyn.

On no days rest in 2024-25, Cunningham is averaging 27.7 points per night in seven appearances as well. If you need more evidence, he averaged exactly 25.5 ppg in two games against the Warriors last season.

Warriors vs Pistons same-game parlay

Cade Cunningham Over 25.5 points

Tobias Harris Over 13.5 points

Pistons moneyline

Tobias Harris has been a solid addition to the Pistons this season in his second stint with the team. While his numbers aren’t what they were during his time with the 76ers, the veteran is still averaging 13.3 points in 35 starts.

After finishing off December in a cold spell, he’s picked it up since the turn of the year. Harris has cashed the Over in points in four of his previous five appearances. He also played well against Golden State in 2023-24, averaging 19.5 ppg across two games. I expect him also to take advantage of the shorthanded Dubs.

Detroit is actually a 3.5-point favorite tonight because of the Warriors’ lengthy injury report. They’re also sitting at -155 on the moneyline, and that’s the bet we’ll focus on as part of this SGP.

The Pistons are 5-2 as a home moneyline favorite this season. JB Bickerstaff’s squad is also red-hot at the moment, winning five in a row and going 8-2 in their last 10 games. Four of their victories during this unbeaten streak have come at Little Caesars Arena.

Plus, Detroit’s injury report is essentially empty, except for the long-term absence of Jaden Ivey, while Ausar Thompson is battling an illness. The Pistons will end their two-game losing skid against the Dubs.
