The Creighton Bluejays will look to recover from their recent slide and solidify their NCAA Tournament position as they visit the Seton Hall Pirates tonight.
Although the Pirates haven’t been winning games, they have been competitive against their Big East opponents, which is why I’m taking them to cover in my Creighton vs. Seton Hall predictions.
I’ll take a closer look at this matchup below in my free college basketball picks for Tuesday, March 4.

My analysis
Creighton has surprisingly lost three of its last five games, but dropping tonight’s matchup to Seton Hall — even on the road — would be a complete disaster for the Bluejays. Creighton won the first matchup against the Pirates by 25 points, and Seton Hall has lost 13 of its last 14 games, part of a 2-16 record against Big East opponents.
Yet, there are signs that these teams may be in for a closer game than expected tonight. As much as Seton Hall keeps losing, they’ve certainly been more competitive in recent weeks, covering in four of their last five games, including three straight at home. That even includes an upset win over the Connecticut Huskies on Feb. 15 in which they were a 13.5-point favorite.
The Pirates have struggled with injury issues all year long, leaving an already weak roster even further behind its conference foes. However, Isaiah Coleman (15.4 ppg) and Dylan Addae-Wusu (10.5 ppg) have at least been on the court together as of late, and Seton Hall is also allowing only 68.5 ppg over its last six contests. It’s not enough to win games, but it has been a good sign for bettors who just need the Pirates to keep the final close.
Creighton has lost three of its last five and has only covered once during that span. Notably, the Bluejays have failed to cover both times they were listed as a double-digit favorite. While center Ryan Kalkbrenner (19.1 ppg) continues to put up big numbers, Creighton has been held below 70 points twice in its last five games.
Given how both teams have played of late, I love the double-digit spread for the Pirates. I’m taking Seton Hall to cover.

I like Seton Hall to keep this one close enough to cover, but that’ll only happen because the Pirates slow the game down and play enough defense to stay in the game with the Bluejays. Creighton is also a solid defensive team and did a good job on the Seton Hall offense in the first matchup, so I’m expecting this game to hit the full game Under.
However, I’m also taking an uncorrelated total by backing the first half Over at 60.5 points. Creighton has played above that total in the first period of each of its last seven games, and I don’t expect the Bluejays to allow this one to be the kind of slog that will stay below that number by halftime.
