Naessens' prediction: USC comes away with the win but neither side looks particularly potent on offense, leading to the Under.

Get set for a second-round Region 4 Women’s March Madness battle when the Mississippi State Bulldogs meet the USC Trojans.

Tonight’s clash features two solid defenses, and my Mississippi State vs. USC predictions anticipate a low-scoring contest in Spokane.

Read on for my Women’s March Madness picks for Monday, March 24.

Who will win Mississippi State vs USC?

The USC Trojans should win. They are loaded with offensive talent and a stop unit that gets swipes, blocks shots, and makes life difficult for the best defenses.

Mississippi State leads with its defense. It's allowed fewer than 66 points in three of four, and while it'll make a game of it, USC will slow the Bulldogs offense and advance.

Mississippi State vs USC prediction

My best bet: Under 145.5 (-110 at bet365)

JuJu Watkins and the USC Trojans are heavy second-round favorites to defeat the Mississippi State Bulldogs tonight.

The USC star defends and scores. Watkins and teammate Kennedy Smith averaged two swipes apiece for the Trojans, who averaged nearly 11 steals per clash.

The Trojans also throw shots, rebound, and defend well enough from everywhere to give Mississippi State fits.

The Bulldogs haven’t scored its season average (76 PPG) in any of its last five and will have difficulties doing so against the USC stop unit tonight.

Mississippi State will defend and likes to get physical. The Bulldogs surrendered 66 points per game this season and fewer than that in four of five.

While both teams like to play fast, Mississippi State cannot win a fast-paced game. It doesn't handle the rock well enough and would likely get blown out in one.

Instead, the Bulldogs will lean on their stout defense. They’ll defend the paint and the arc and turn tonight’s clash into a physical, slow-paced slog that should cause this game to end Under the game total.

Mississippi State vs USC same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 145.5

USC team total Under 81.5

USC moneyline

The same-game parlay markets are scant in the Women’s game, but this three-leg SGP pays slightly better than even money.

I don’t believe USC will score 82 points against this Bulldogs' defense. It's cleared that mark only once in its last five games, and Mississippi State has only surrendered that many points four times this season.

The Bulldogs may hold USC to under 82 points tonight, but that won’t prevent the Trojans from winning. USC is 29-3 straight-up and has won four of five with too much on both ends of the floor.
