We are down to the final 16 teams in the NCAA Tournament, and it should be a banger of a Sweet 16 with these remaining programs.
My three-leg parlay likes an Over, an underdog, and a favorite.
Her are my best March Madness picks for the Sweet 16 on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28.
Today’s best March Madness parlay: Sweet 16
BYU vs. Alabama Over 176
I am not sure they could have set this line high enough for me not to take it. The Alabama Crimson Tide were the top scoring team in the country, and it hasn’t been different in the tournament thus far against two good defensive teams with 90 and 80 points, respectively. The BYU Cougars scored 80 and 91 in their respective games.
Also, both teams struggle on defense, with Alabama ranking 356th in scoring defense and BYU ranking 71st in KenPom’s defensive efficiency. I feel very confident that at least one of these two teams will be reaching 90 points and could be pushing 100. This Over may be my favorite bet of the Sweet 16.
Kentucky +4.5
The Kentucky Wildcats are finally back in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2019, and they are facing a familiar foe in their rival Tennessee Volunteers. UK won both games in the regular season, and the old adage is that it is tough to beat a team three times, but there are plenty of reason to dispel that.
The Cats lost three times just this season to Alabama because they simply don’t match up well with them. It's the same here except the Vols are the ones that don’t match up well with Kentucky.
As good as Tennessee’s defense is, they have allowed 75+ points to the Cats both times and struggled to score themselves. UK’s defense was less than stellar this season but has come on strong over the last month, and they will sweep the season series to advance.
Auburn -8.5
The Michigan Wolverines finally got that SEC monkey off their back by defeating Texas A&M in the Round of 32. However, now they get the best the conference has to offer in what could be a virtual home game in Atlanta for the Auburn Tigers. Auburn played a game earlier this season in State Farm Arena against a Big Ten team and smoked Ohio State, 91-53.
The Tigers are simply better than Michigan on both ends of the court. Vladislav Goldin was a menace to the Aggies last week, but Auburn should be able to handle him with one of the best rebounders and post defenders in the nation in Johni Broome. The Tigers will use their size and athleticism to win this one by double-digits.
