The Maryland Terrapins take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers for the second time this season when these Big Ten foes face off inside Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Terps were able to get the better of the Huskers at home on January 19, overcoming a quiet night from star forward Derik Queen thanks to sensational shooting from the Maryland backcourt. Ja'Kobi Gillespie, in particular, was sensational in that first meeting, and I expect another busy night from the junior guard.

My analysis
Ja'Kobi Gillespie jacked up nine triples in that first matchup with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, knocking down five of those long-range looks en route to a 22-point performance in a 69-66 victory.
Nebraska sold out on stopping Queen inside, throwing extra bodies at the Maryland Terrapins' interior star and leaving lots of clean air for Gillespie and the Maryland backcourt on the perimeter. The Terps finished a collective 10-for-25 from deep.
Nebraska is one of the bigger teams in the land and plugs up the paint, forcing the ball into help defense on the baseline. However, that does leave the Huskers susceptible to good shooting teams that can swing the ball around to the open hand.
Maryland’s offense is good at spacing the floor, which has been a sore spot for Nebraska’s lumbering defense. According to ShotQualityBets, the Terrapins are 51st in “catch-and-shoot” and 50th in “off-the-dribble” 3-pointers, while the Huskers rank 320th and 307th in defending those playsets.
Gillespie is shooting 40% from beyond the arc this year, knocking down an average of 2.3 triples on 5.8 attempts from distance. In recent outings, he’s upped his activity from outside, getting up six or more shots from 3-point land in his last 10 games.
His player projections for tonight call for 2.8 makes from long range against Nebraska, which gives plenty of pop to the Over 2.5 makes from beyond the arc at +110.
