Dejour Reaves has been red-hot, but my Mount St. Mary’s vs. Iona predictions expect the senior guard to have a rough shooting night.

Who will win Mount St. Mary’s vs Iona?
Mount St. Mary’s has been solid, but they’ll have difficulty beating Iona without star forward Jedy Cordilia. The Gaels should dominate the glass and have enough offense to win this game.

My best bet: Dejour Reaves Under 19.5 points (-110 at bet365)
The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers have had a difficult season with injuries and some funny results.
They’ve reached the MAAC Championship game on a combination of guts, heart, and a bit of defense. Their mission today is simple: stop Iona Gaels senior guard Dejour Reaves.
Okay, it's not that simple.
MSM slowed Reaves in their last meeting. He scored only 13 points but hit a buzzer-beating triple in OT at St. Mary’s. He's had 23+ points in four of his last six.
As good as Reaves has been, he’s also scored fewer than 20 points in 21 games, and I’m betting he doesn’t score 20 tonight.
Reaves has shot 55% or better from the field and 50% or better from beyond the arc in the MAAC tourney, but I expect the 44% from the field and 29% from downtown road Reaves to turn up tonight.
Mount St. Mary’s plays solid defense. They allowed 48% shooting from inside and 31% from outside. Like last time, they will likely run a box-and-one on him, forcing him to take bad shots.
The combination of the MSM defense and serious regression will take its toll.

I expect bricks tonight from Reaves, and Mountaineers guard Dallas Hobbs will be the brick collector.
Hobbs averages 30+ minutes and is rarely in foul trouble. He’s snagged more than four caroms in three of five, and he should have plenty of chances tonight in what should be a relatively fast-paced affair.
The Mountaineers have faced several challenges this season, but they’ll be without double-double machine Jedy Cordilia.
Cordilia recorded a monster double-double in their last meeting. They’ll need to say an extra Hail Mary or two to beat Iona without him.
Novenas aside, Iona is more than Reaves. Iona has two others averaging double-digits, and its 10 steals per game will be too much for the somewhat turnover-prone Mountaineers to overcome.
