The No. 16 Oregon Ducks (16-5, 5-5 Big Ten) look to break out of a slump as they welcome the Nebraska Cornhuskers (13-8, 3-7 Big Ten) to Eugene on Sunday.
The Ducks have lost three of their last four games, whereas the Cornhuskers snapped a six-game losing streak with an 80-74 victory over Illinois on Thursday.

My analysis
Although the Oregon Ducks are ranked, they haven’t been playing anywhere close to a Top-25 level lately. Part of their recent slippage is due to a faulty defense surrendering 78.9 ppg in their last eight games.
Filtering by conference games only, Oregon ranks 113th in adjusted defensive efficiency on BartTorvik. There are some natural deficiencies that likely won’t be easily fixed, and many of the rotation players are of the “score first” variety.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers are not some offensive juggernaut, but they average 75.6 ppg and have one of the nation’s best bucket-getters in Brice Williams (18.6 ppg). They looked much better on Thursday, snapping a six-game losing streak with a big win over Illinois.
Nebraska has also fallen off on the defensive end in conference play, ranking 85th in adjusted defensive efficiency (BartTorvik). They’ve been especially forgiving on the road, allowing 83 points at Wisconsin, 104 at Purdue, and 97 at Iowa.
Oregon has been a capable offense at Matthew Knight Arena, scoring at least 77 points in three of their last four home games. Jackson Shelstad is a much better player than his goose egg against UCLA would lead you to believe, and big man Nate Bittle is on fire.
The Ducks are 12-7 O/U in their last 19 games at home, and the Cornhuskers are 8-6 O/U in their last 14 away games. I’ll bet on another Over coming through in a game featuring two defenses that have regressed significantly during Big Ten play.
Nebraska vs Oregon same-game parlay (SGP)
The Ducks simply haven’t been getting the job done relative to expectation, going 1-7 ATS in their last eight games. I can’t back a team like that until something drastic changes.
Even when they do pick up wins, it’s rarely by margin. Only one of their previous four victories has come by more than four points, and that was against the conference’s cellar dweller (Washington).
Nebraska is a flawed team, but it has a star player to rely on and is probably better than its recent six-game losing streak. Its best chance at a win likely revolves around exploiting Oregon’s turnstile defense of late, so a play on the underdog is somewhat correlated with the Over.
