The Bulldogs got the best of the Sooners back in January, and Rohit Ponnaiya anticipates a sequel of success for them in tonight's conference showdown.

The first round of the SEC Tournament wraps up tonight, featuring a clash between the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners and the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs.

Head coach Mike White has done a great job of helping turn around the Bulldogs program, and my Oklahoma vs. Georgia predictions expect him to lead them to a victory tonight.

Here are my best free college basketball picks for this conference tournament matchup on Wednesday, March 12.

Oklahoma vs Georgia prediction

Who will win Oklahoma vs Georgia?

When these teams previously faced off in Athens on January 8, the Georgia Bulldogs pulled away in the second half to win 72-62.

While this game will take place at a neutral site and only six spots separate No. 33 Georgia from No. 39 Oklahoma in the KenPom ratings, I think the Bulldogs will manage to prevail.

This is a tough matchup for the Sooners, whose biggest strengths on offense are matched by Georgia's toughest areas on defense. Likewise, Georgia's scoring unit tends to do the dirty work inside that Oklahoma's interior D struggles to contain.

My best bet
Georgia -3.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
Oklahoma ended its regular season on a high note, upsetting No. 21 Missouri and Texas in the final two games. That said, Georgia also enters the SEC tourney with momentum. The Bulldogs went 4-1 straight up and 5-0 ATS in their final five contests, with their only defeat coming on the road against No. 2 Auburn.

The Sooners were 15th in the SEC in adjusted defensive efficiency during conference play. They were destroyed on the interior, sitting 13th in 2-point defense (55.4%) and opponent free throw rate (42.3%), while ranking 12th in defensive rebounding rate (31.9%).

While the Bulldogs don't shoot well from the perimeter, they do a good job of attacking the offensive glass (fourth in the SEC in offensive rebounding) and getting to the line (sixth in free throw rate).

On the other end of the floor, the Bulldogs have been tenacious, ranking fourth in adjusted defense during league play.

They do a good job of defending without fouling (third in the SEC in opponent FT rate) and limit conference foes to 31.9% shooting from deep. That will be particularly crucial in this matchup since free throws and threes are Oklahoma's primary ways of generating points.

Georgia's stingy defense will be able to neutralize Oklahoma's biggest offensive strengths, so I'm backing the Bulldogs on the spread.

Oklahoma vs Georgia same-game parlay (SGP)

Georgia moneyline

Asa Newell 15+ points

Jeremiah Fears Under 18.5 points

Freshmen have been excelling across the country, and both of these teams are led by first-year studs.

Five-star recruit Asa Newell leads Georgia with 15.1 ppg on 54 FG% and takes on an Oklahoma squad that has allowed 83.0 ppg in its last 10 games. He has scored at least 15 points in 12 of his last 17 contests, including the last time these teams clashed. The 6-foot-11 forward will be able to feast inside against the Sooners, who are missing starting center Sam Godwin due to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, freshman guard Jeremiah Fears tops Oklahoma in points (16.3) and assists per game (4.2). However, he shoots just 26.5% from long range, and the O/U of 18.5 on his points props is too high.

Fears has gone below this number in 13 of his last 18 games. That includes the previous meeting between these teams when he was held to just two points on 1-for-11 shooting.
