It’s a battle at the top of the Big Ten when the second-ranked Purdue Boilermakers visit the sixth-ranked Wisconsin Badgers.

Purdue has won six straight and has just a single loss in the last 13. It's pegged as a 2.5-point road favorite in the college basketball odds. Meanwhile, the Badgers are just a game behind the Boilermakers in the conference standings after getting upset by Nebraska last time out — just their second loss in the last 11.

Purdue vs Wisconsin picks and predictions

To no one’s surprise, the current win streak the Purdue Boilermakers are on happens to coincide with big man Zach Edey’s most dominant stretch of the season.

The 7-foot-4 Canadian was the center of attention in the Boilermakers’ 105-96 OT win over Northwestern, finishing with 30 points, 15 rebounds and three assists.

That makes it six straight double-doubles, with Zach Edey touching the 30-point plateau four different times. During this stretch, he’s averaging 27.5 points on a scorching 60.6% shooting while averaging a whopping 14.8 rebounds.

Edey is second in the nation in scoring at 23.4 points per game and fourth in rebounding at 11.6. The senior is a big reason Purdue currently sits seventh in the nation in scoring at 85.8 points per game, which tops the Big Ten. The Boilermakers also rank 15th nationally in rebounding at 41 per contest while shooting the rock at a deft 49.5% from the field.

The Wisconsin Badgers will offer some resistance, as their defense allows just 67.5 points per game, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten. The Badgers are also tops in the conference in limiting opponent rebounds, surrendering just 28.8.

I just think Edey is just too much to handle right now. His points + rebounds total is set at 36.5, a figure he’s breezed by in five of the last six. Expect him to stay hot Sunday at the Kohl Center.

My best bet: Zach Edey Over 36.5 points + rebounds (-120 at DraftKings50% boost available

Purdue vs Wisconsin same-game parlay

Zach Edey Over 12.5 rebounds

Lance Jones Over 2.5 made 3s

Under 147

50% boost available

For some reason, as of Sunday morning, DraftKings has yet to include Edey’s points + rebounds combo as part of their same-game parlay options. While I encourage you to wait for that bet to come available, I’ll target his line of 12.5 rebounds for now.

Tacking onto that bet is the 3-point shooting line for Edey’s teammate, senior guard Lance Jones. Jones was lights out against Northwestern, drilling 5-for-7 from downtown, part of a season-best 26 points. Save for an 0-for-6 clunker from deep against Rutgers, Jones has hit his Over 2.5 make line for Sunday in five of his last six games.

Wisconsin’s 3-point defense ranks a distant 320th in college basketball, allowing teams to hit at a crisp 36% clip. Jones should have ample opportunities to light it up.

I’ll wrap this up with the total. The line for Sunday is set at 147 points, which will be the highest figure in any of the last 10 matchups, with only one total even crossing the 140-point line. Using Sunday’s figure, the Under would have hit in nine of the last 10 matchups — a good enough sample size worth targeting again.

Purdue vs Wisconsin spread and Over/Under analysis

The point spread has been as low as 1.5 points, though most books have lifted that number to at least Purdue -2 or -2.5.

Both teams have winning records against the spread, with the Boilermakers checking in at 13-8-1, while the Badgers are 10-9-2 ATS.

The total has stayed steady with a high of 147.5, and a low of 146.5. Not surprising that Purdue, a Top-10 scoring team in college basketball, has seen the Over go 15-7-0 in their games this season.

Wisconsin hasn’t been that bad either, though they rank inside the Top 150 in scoring, averaging 75.8 points per game. The Over has hit in 12 of its 21 games this season.
