In their first big challenge of the year, the Missouri Tigers watched their four-game win streak go up in smoke against the No. 2-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. They’ll try to bounce back in their home state against the Seton Hall Pirates Sunday at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. The Tigers are slight 1.5-point favorites in the college basketball odds.
Seton Hall just got off a two-game slide of their own, beating Monmouth to improve to 6-4 on the year.

Seton Hall vs Missouri picks and predictions
Plenty of teams have seen their dreams dashed at Allen Fieldhouse, and Missouri was no different, dropping a 73-64 decision to Kansas.
The Tigers were done in by a back-breaking 14-0 run by the Jayhawks to close the first half, turning what was a two-point lead into a 12-point deficit that they never did recover from. Offensively, Mizzou shot 41.4% for the game, including 7-for-21 from downtown. They were -10 in the free throw department and were whipped on the glass, outrebounded 42-25.
The good news is their defense was strong in defeat, forcing 16 turnovers and converting them into 13 points, while limiting the Jayhawks to 3-for-10 shooting from downtown.
The Tigers will be taking on a Pirates’ side that isn’t exactly an offensive juggernaut, putting up 73.9 points per game, which ranks 210th in college hoops. But they could pose an issue for them in the rebounding department.
Seton Hall is 36th in the nation in offensive rebounding, grabbing nearly 12 a game, and their 23.9 defensive boards is 61st in the NCAA, which could hurt a Tigers team that struggles to crash the offensive glass. Missouri’s seven offensive rebounds per game is 321st overall.
The teams are nearly identical in the defensive scoring department, with Missouri surrendering 67.8 points per game, and the Pirates at 67.6.
Save for their 70-61 win over Monmouth last time out, the Pirates have been leaking a little defensively, with their previous five opponents putting up at least 70 points in each game. That’s the number Missouri needs to hit to ensure victory, as the Tigers are an impressive 29-1 when scoring at least 70 points under head coach Dennis Gates, and only 3-12 when they dip under that total.
I think the Tigers can find enough offense to hit that number Sunday, and cover a small spread in the process.
My best bet: Missouri -1.5 (-110 at DraftKings)
Seton Hall vs Missouri same-game parlay
As we’re picking Missouri, we’ll focus our same-game parlay on a Pirate that might have trouble on Sunday.
Guard Al-Amir Dawes is shooting a career-worst 31.5% from distance in his senior season. He’s been as streaky as you can get from distance. In six games, he’s drilled at least three triples, but he’s also had two others where he’s made one, and two where he’s been blanked altogether.
He's in a little funk coming into the game with Missouri. He went 1-for-3 against Monmouth, following a rough 3-for-15 outing from beyond the arc against Rutgers, which came off a forgettable 0-for-8 night against sixth-ranked Baylor, where he missed all four of his threes.
Missouri defends the 3-ball well, allowing teams to shoot just 30.4% from distance, which ranks 90th in the nation.

Seton Hall vs Missouri spread and Over/Under analysis
There’s been almost no movement on this line, with only DraftKings acting as an outlier and setting this line at two points. But they’ve since fallen in line with the rest to the current 1.5-point spread.
Both schools are 3-7 against the spread so far this season, but they’ve arrived in very different ways. After failing to cover the first seven games of the season, Missouri gone 3-0 ATS in their last three contests.
Seton Hall, meanwhile, started the year 3-1-0 ATS but have failed to cover their last six — including two as a 13.5-point or greater favorite, and one as an 11.5-point underdog to Baylor.
The total opened as low as 137.5 points but has seen some movement, with most books staying put at 138.5, but a few sites still offer it the 139-point range.
The Over has gone 4-6-0 in Seton Hall games, hitting the Under in their last three contests — with their game against Rutgers going Under 133.5 points.
The Over has hit in just three of 10 Missouri games. After five straight Unders, they’ve split the last four.
