Wisconsin vs Marquette Prediction, Picks, and Odds for Today's College Basketball Game

John Tonje is money from deep, and he's about to light up the Golden Eagles, who could be down their two best perimeter defenders.

Get set for the next installment of the I-94 Rivalry when the Wisconsin Badgers head to Fiserv Forum for a matchup with the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Wisconsin guard John Tonje is one of the best 3-point shooters in the Big Ten, and my Wisconsin vs. Marquette predictions expect his hot shooting to continue today.

Read on for my college basketball picks for Saturday, December 7.

Wisconsin vs Marquette prediction

My best bet
John Tonje Over 1.5 threes (-115 at bet365)

My analysis
Wisconsin Badgers guard John Tonje has found a home in Madison.

After two disappointing stops, Tonje has proved he belongs on a D1 court. He’s scoring nearly 23 points per night, and is accomplishing this in several ways.

Tonje gets to the charity stripe nearly nine times per game. He drains a Big Ten-best 93% from the line, but he’s also an accomplished 3-point shooter, knocking down 44% of his long-range attempts.

The Badgers guard has knocked down two or more shots from downtown in three of his last five. He could be in for a big night from deep because the Marquette Golden Eagles don’t defend the arc, and they could be missing two key perimeter defenders.

Guard Zaide Lowery has already been ruled out, and guard Chass Ross is listed as doubtful. That’s three steals per game and a ton of deflections the Golden Eagles will miss today.

They’ll also miss the two's peskiness. Lowery and Ross are solid perimeter defenders, and their absences will provide ample opportunities for Tonje to light them up.

Wisconsin vs Marquette same-game parlay

John Tonje Over 1.5 threes

Over 149.5

Marquette moneyline

Both groups play faster-tempo basketball. Marquette is a great defensive side when fully healthy, but it won’t be today, and Wisconsin can score the basketball.

The Badgers average nearly 83 points per night, but their defense can sometimes be underwhelming. Marquette also averages 83 points a game, and the faster tempo by good ball handling and shooting teams should send this one Over the number.

I like Marquette to win straight up. It lost a strange one to Iowa State and will come out firing today. Wisconsin will hang with the Eagles, but they've won six straight at Fiserv, and I expect them to come out victorious today.
