The Miami Hurricanes will try to remain undefeated and in prime position to make the College Football Playoff as they visit the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon.
The Hurricanes have been scoring at will – and giving up plenty of points, too – this season, which is why I’ll be taking the Over in my Miami vs. Georgia Tech predictions.
Keep reading to see why I think the offense will win the day in my free college football picks for Saturday, November 9.

My analysis
While it may be hard to get a handle on how legitimate a national title contender the Miami Hurricanes really are, there are no such doubts about the power of their offense. Cam Ward and company are ripping through defenses, scoring 47.4 ppg while averaging 556.9 yards per game and 7.7 yards per play, all tops in the nation. No team has yet held the Hurricanes under 36 points this season.
Georgia Tech isn’t going to be the squad to break that streak. While the Yellow Jackets have been solid enough against the run, opponents are completing 63.4% of their passes against them, totaling 7.2 yards per passing attempt. With Ward completing 67.1% of his throws and putting up a stellar 175.1 passer rating this year, it’s going to be a long day for the Georgia Tech secondary.
That may all sound like a reason to take Miami to cover on Saturday, but we also have to look at the other side of the ball. That’s where the Hurricanes have struggled. While they’ve only allowed a reasonable 22.6 ppg on the season, that number is misleading, as Miami held its first four opponents to an average of just 10.3 points. Since then, four of its last five opponents have scored at least 31 points.
Can Georgia Tech join that club? The Yellow Jackets have had some success against weaker defensive squads, recently putting up 41 points against the North Carolina Tar Heels. They’ve struggled to score in the last two weeks, but those efforts came against better defenses in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King might be back for this game, which would add a dependable – if not explosive — dual-threat weapon to an offense that has struggled in the last two weeks without him. King’s status has me wary of just how well the Yellow Jackets will fare overall against Miami, which will force this to be a shootout.
But even the defensive-minded Georgia Tech team has gone over this total twice in the last six weeks, while the Hurricanes do so on a regular basis. With Miami’s offense unlikely to run into too much resistance, the Over is my clear pick.
Miami vs Georgia Tech same-game parlay (SGP)
The Miami offense should dominate this matchup, and that’s the focus of my same-game parlay. I’m not only taking the Over, but I’ll also take Miami to cover the 10.5-point spread. Georgia Tech has lost its last two games by at least 15 points each, and the Hurricanes have far more ability to run up the score than the Yellow Jackets’ recent opponents.
I’ll also take two Hurricanes standouts to score touchdowns in this contest. Running back Damien Martinez has eight touchdowns on the year, while receiver Xavier Restrepo has found the endzone nine times, including three scores last week. With Miami scoring early and often in this one, both players should be able to get on the board on Saturday.
