Spurs vs Nuggets Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

The Denver Nuggets have sights set on trying to move up the Western Conference standings with the playoffs right around the corner and with the San Antonio Spurs on deck, expect the home team to remain on track to take care of business to help themselves.

There’s no rest for the Denver Nuggets if they want to improve their spot in the Western Conference playoff picture.

The Nuggets are coming off a crushing overtime loss at home Tuesday – wasting a 61-point performance from Nikola Jokic - and now turn around to face the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

Denver is currently third in the West and two games out of second place with just half a dozen contests remaining. It won’t mess around with slumping San Antonio tonight.

Here are my best Spurs vs. Nuggets predictions and NBA picks for April 2.

Spurs vs Nuggets prediction

My best bet: Denver Nuggets -9.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
The San Antonio Spurs lug a five-game losing skid up the mountain to play the Denver Nuggets tonight.

Facing the Nuggets is stiff enough, but forcing the Spurs into action for the second straight night – in the altitude of Ball Arena – is testing the commitment of this team in the dwindling days of the schedule.

San Antonio has very little to play for at this point, wrapping up a season that went off the tracks with injuries to superstars Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox.

The Spurs have shown some fight down the stretch, covering seven times in a 10-game span (4-6 SU) before getting trounced at home the past two outings. That includes a 116-105 defeat against the Orlando Magic last night.

Denver could be without starters Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. tonight after they sat out Tuesday’s OT defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, this game holds a lot of weight in terms of the team’s postseason plans.

The loss to Minnesota was more of the same inconsistency from Denver over the past month. The Nuggets shot up the standings with a 17-6 SU run that spanned most of the winter but have since gone 11-10 SU since February 20.

Beyond San Antonio, Denver has a very challenging slate of opponents, all of which are playing for postseason positioning. It travels to Golden State, hosts Indiana, visits Sacramento, hosts Memphis, and finishes the season with what could be a crucial road date at Houston – the No. 2 team in the West.

Last night’s extra period and tight turnaround – along with the availability of Murray and Porter – is anchoring this point spread below double figures. However, the Nuggets can’t afford to throw this “gimmie game” away.

Denver is 21-7 SU and 15-13 ATS in the second game of back-to-back outings while San Antonio is just 5-22 SU and 10-17 ATS in those same spots this season.

Navigating the home stretch of the NBA calendar is always a tough task for bettors, but I’d rather put my faith in a Nuggets team playing for something than a Spurs squad counting down the days until Cancun.

Spurs vs Nuggets same-game parlay

Denver Nuggets -9.5

Nikola Jokic 13+ rebounds

Devin Vassell 15+ points

The Nuggets need a win bad after a rough loss last night and a tough road ahead. The Spurs will be sucking wind in the thin air on the second night of back-to-backs.
