College Football Week 10 Parlay Picks & SGP: Vandy Tames Tigers

Vanderbilt is on a mission, and that's SEC respectability. The Commodores, along with the Ohio State Buckeyes, play major roles in our Week 10 Parlay and SGP predictions.

With the calendar moving into November, things are getting serious in the college football landscape, and I like a few surprising trends to continue in my Week 10 college football parlay picks.

The Army Golden Knights remain undefeated, and should score another big win on Saturday. The Vanderbilt Commodores are the darlings of the SEC and have a chance to spring another upset, while the Florida State Seminoles should continue to struggle against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

I’ll take a look at all those matchups and give you a same-game parlay for one of the biggest games of the week in my college football picks for Week 10.

Army -21.5

Vanderbilt +7.5

North Carolina ML

Army has been one of the biggest surprises in college football this year. Sure, the Black Knights haven’t really played anyone, but they’ve dominated their opponents, blowing out mediocre FBS competition and covering in six of their seven games so far this year on their way to remaining undefeated heading into November.

Now, Army gets its first service academy challenges against the Air Force Falcons. Air Force is just 1-6 and hasn’t exactly played a world-beating schedule either, with its only win coming against FCS competition. The Navy Midshipmen beat Air Force by 27 points, and Army should win by even more, easily covering.

Another surprise this season has been Vanderbilt, which has been extremely competitive in the SEC so far this season. The Commodores have already beaten the Alabama Crimson Tide and played both the Missouri Tigers and Texas Longhorns to within a field goal. That makes it hard to believe we can get more than a touchdown with Vanderbilt against the Auburn Tigers, and I’m happy to take that many points in this game.

Finally, let’s take North Carolina to beat the Florida State Seminoles outright. At this point, should we trust Florida State to beat anyone, let alone a solid enough Tar Heels squad? UNC isn’t anything to write home about – they’ve just broken a four-game losing streak – but they rebounded well last week with a strong 41-14 win over the Virginia Cavaliers. I don’t see the Seminoles escaping with a home win in this one.

Ohio State ML

Under 46.5

Jeremiah Smith anytime TD

If there’s an argument that the 12-team College Football Playoff takes away from the regular season, Saturday’s matchup between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions might be the poster child. Neither team will be impacted all that severely by the loss, though Ohio State might be out of the Big Ten title race, at the very least.

Still, it’s hard to see the Buckeyes losing this one. While Ohio State already has a loss on the year, they really should have beaten the Oregon Ducks last month, and other than that, only the Nebraska Cornhuskers gave them a serious challenge. Penn State has been lucky to escape with wins against much lesser competition, so I expect the Buckeyes to get the win here.

That said, it won’t be easy. Both of these defenses are capable of shutting down just about anyone in the nation. Each ranks in the top 10 nationally in yards allowed per play and scoring defense, and I expect this to be a slog on both sides of the ball. With a reasonable total, the Under is the definite play for this matchup.

As I like to say, in these games, however, someone has to score. The unit most likely to break through is the Ohio State passing game. Will Howard – mistimed knees aside – has been outstanding for the Buckeyes, and he has tons of weapons to work with. At the top of that list is Jeremiah Smith, who has already scored nine times this year and has at least a touchdown in every Ohio State game this year. Let’s take Smith to continue that streak to round out our parlay on this marquee matchup.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
