Panthers vs Commanders Picks, Predictions, and Best Bets: Daniels Airs it Out

The Carolina Panthers defense looks lifeless, and it'll open the door for Jayden Daniels to connect with his receivers for big plays.

The Washington Commanders had a hiccup last weekend, but it will still beat up on the lowly Carolina Panthers.

My Panthers vs. Commanders predictions expect one-way traffic at Northwest Stadium, with Jayden Daniels headlining my NFL picks for this October 20 affair.

Panthers vs Commanders prediction

My best bet
Jayden Daniels longest completion Over 36.5 yards (-110 at BetMGM)

My analysis
Pick your poison against the Washington Commanders. The three-headed monster of Jayden Daniels, Brian Robinson Jr., and Austin Ekeler has given defenses fits, piling up 157.3 rushing yards per game

But the play-action pass is always on. As soon as defenses overcommit to stop the run, Daniels has the green light to air it out, whether that’s on a dropback pass or an improvised scramble.

Daniels has uncorked some pinpoint deep shots through the first six weeks of his rookie season, and I see him cashing in against a vulnerable Carolina Panthers defense on Sunday.

Daniels has connected with Terry McLaurin for 55-yard and 66-yard completions already this year, and he won’t get many better opportunities than this Week 7 clash.

Overmatched and prone to blown coverages, the Panthers have given up a reception of at least 40 yards in five of their six games so far, including a 52-yard catch for Kyle Pitts in last weekend’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons and a 63-yard touchdown to Ja’Marr Chase in Week 4.

Make no mistake, the Commanders have the weapons to pad that trend.

The ground game will be Plan A for Washington here, but at some point, Carolina will have no choice but to overload the box. When it does, Daniels will make them pay.

Panthers vs Commanders same-game parlay

Jayden Daniels Over 236.5 passing yards

Daniels anytime touchdown

Under 51.5

I’m sticking with Daniels’ arm to anchor my SGP but pivoting slightly to the Over on his passing yards total.

I expect Daniels to spread the ball around against a struggling Carolina defense ranked last in the NFL in points allowed this season at 33.8 ppg.

The Daniels anytime touchdown prop also jumps out to me. Washington should have Robinson Jr. back from a knee injury here, but a cautious approach would make sense. Daniels has four rushing TDs this year, and he’s racked up double-digit carries in four of the Commanders’ six outings. If there’s any kind of running lane, he’s going to take it.

Both teams have hammered the Over this year, but a line of 51.5 requires at least some contributions from the Panthers — and I’m hesitant to put that much faith in the Carolina offense.

I’m zagging to the Under instead.

The visitors only scored three points in the second half against the Falcons last time out, and I also expect the Panthers to show more pride defensively after giving up 108 points in their last three games.

Panthers vs Commanders spread and Over/Under analysis

  • The Commanders were always going to be big favorites in this matchup, but the line jumped from -8 to -9.5 on Saturday, and that just feels like a lot of points to lay despite Washington’s strong form.
  • Carolina has had a miserable time in the underdog spot, and the visitor is 1-7 ATS in its past eight games.
  • Though the Panthers have cashed in the Over in their last four outings, they’ve hit the 4Q Under in 12 of their last 17 contests.
  • The Over is 13-7 in Washington’s last 20 games, but both teams’ focus on the ground game, including tough running from Carolina’s Chubba Hubbard, should drain the clock here.
