Super Bowl 59 odds

The Lions find themselves atop the Super Bowl odds board for the first time all season after crushing the Jaguars 52-6 in Week 11. Detroit has now won eight games in a row and is becoming a major liability for sportsbooks after entering the season with Super Bowl odds of +1,300.

Jason Logan, Senior Industry Analyst: To be the man, you’ve got to beat the man. Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and the Chiefs could be on cruise control in the regular season, but they’re too talented — and too well coached — for the Lions in Super Bowl LIX.

Joe Osborne, Senior Content Creator: It could be a perfect storm for the Lions as most of the Pro Bowl-level talent is still ascending, they got some playoff experience under their belt last season, and they were able to retain OC Ben Johnson, the most important coach on their staff. That right there is a great blueprint for becoming a champion. The Chiefs have a great defense and Patrick Mahomes — enough said.

Josh Inglis, Analyst: Philadelphia gets back to its 2022 ways after bringing in Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio. This offense is scary and wins in New Orleans in Super Bowl LIX. Perhaps with the changes on offense, Josh Allen and the Bills finally get through KC in the AFC.

Rohit Ponnaiya, Analyst: Fade the Chiefs at your own peril; their offense was less explosive than usual last year but that forced their defense to become a more formidable unit. Now, after adding speedsters Marquis Brown and Xavier Worthy at WR, Mahomes again has the weapons to torch foes. Jalen Hurts is poised for a bounce-back year and pass defense was Philly's biggest weakness last season, but adding corners Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the draft — and signing Bryce Huff to upgrade the pass rush — gives new DC Vic Fangio the players he needs to thrive.

Jared Hochman, Content Manager: A healthy(ish) Joe Burrow, improved offensive line, fortified defense, and the duo of Ja'Marr Chase-Tee Higgins give the Bengals arguably the most complete team in the league, at a fantastic price of 13/1. The Packers almost beat the Niners in the playoffs last year, but with Jordan Love's ascent and a roster trending upwards... I can easily see the Cheeseheads winning the NFC.

Super Bowl matchup prediction

  • Chiefs vs. Lions: +700
  • Bills vs. Lions: 900
  • Ravens vs. Lions: +1,100
  • Chiefs vs. Eagles: +1,300
  • Bills vs. Eagles: +1,600
  • Ravens vs. Eagles: +2,100
  • Texans vs. Lions: +2,500
  • Steelers vs. Lions: +2,600
  • Chargers vs. Lions: +3,500
  • Chiefs vs. 49ers: +3,700

Odds courtesy of FanDuel as of 11-21-24.

Pick: Ravens vs Eagles (+2,100 at FanDuel)

I think this is finally the year Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens will break through and the represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes looks more mortal by the week for the Chiefs, and the Bills were stomped 35-10 when Baltimore battled Buffalo earlier this year.

The Philadelphia Eagles look like the team that will make it through the NFC gauntlet. They've done little wrong since their bye week and haven't even had the greatest of health. Their visit to Baltimore is the last true "tough" game they have prior to the playoffs.

Super Bowl exact results prediction

  • Lions to beat Chiefs: +1,300
  • Chiefs to beat Lions: +1,400
  • Lions to beat Bills: +1,600
  • Bills to beat Lions: +1,800
  • Lions to beat Ravens: +2,100
  • Ravens to beat Lions: +2,200
  • Chiefs to beat Eagles: +2,400
  • Eagles to beat Chiefs: +2,500
  • Eagles to beat Bills: +3,000
  • Bills to beat Eagles: +3,000

Odds courtesy of FanDuel as of 11-21-24.

Pick: Eagles to beat Ravens (+4,000 at FanDuel)

I believe the Eagles will beat the Ravens at their own game in Super Bowl 59.

Philly brings a rock-solid run defense to the table as well as a dynamite one-two punch on the ground with Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles' offense may not be as explosive as Baltimore's, but they're Top 10 in yards per play for as well as against, something only one other team can say (49ers). Philly should bleed the clock and get the win in this all-bird tete-a-tete.

Super Bowl winning conference prediction

  • AFC: -115
  • NFC: -104

Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of 11-21-24.

Pick: NFC (-104 at BetMGM)

Contention runs deep in the NFC with the Lions, Eagles, Packers, Niners, and even the Vikings all capable of beating any team on their best day. It's surprising that the NFC is the underdog in this market.

The AFC is led by a Chiefs team that looks much weaker than its record suggests, plus Ravens and Bills teams that lack Super Bowl pedigree. Baltimore and Buffalo also have some suspect defenses. The Texans, Steelers, and Chargers do not look like real threats to the any of the NFC's top squads.

Super Bowl winning state prediction

  • California: +900
  • Florida: +5000
  • Maryland/DC: +650
  • New York/New Jersey: +700
  • Ohio: +12,500
  • Pennsylvania: +550
  • Texas: +2,800
  • Other: -135

Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of 11-21-24.

Pick: Other (-135 at BetMGM)

While I believe Eagles over Ravens is the most likely outcome, I'm not crazy about backing Pennsylvania or Maryland/DC as the Super Bowl winning state. The Steelers, who I have no confidence in, are being lumped in with the former and driving the price down, and it's a similar story with the Commanders for the latter.

"Other" is offering a solid insurance policy as you're getting the Lions and the Chiefs — the two Super Bowl favorites ahead of Week 12 — as well as another team I have confidence in in the Green Bay Packers.
