There may not be anyone more important to the Super Bowl odds favored Los Angeles Rams' offense than Cooper Kupp.

And while so much of the defensive attention will be placed on the star wideout in Super Bowl 56, there may be some creative ways for Sean McVay to otherwise utilize Kupp's YAC prowess. Say, in the run game.

We break down the likelihood of one or two Cooper Kupp rushing attempts and why there's value in going Over his rushing yards total in the Super Bowl player props market.

Cooper Kupp rushing yards pick

  • Kupp Over 0.5 rushing yards (+250)

Pick made on February 9, 2022.

This one caught my eye as one to make a small bet on due to the +250 attached to it. Of course, all we need is for Kupp to gain a single rushing yard and there are three reasons why I think that might happen.

Let’s start with the YAC factor. Kupp led the entire league in yards after the catch this past season. He’s incredibly good with the ball in his hands. This is the biggest game of the year and Sean McVay will be scheming ways to get the ball into Kupp’s hands as many times as possible. Some kind of handoff, maybe even a jet sweep, could be in play.

Second, there’s the Deebo Samuel factor. Why does he come into play? Well, San Francisco has been L.A.’s opponent in two of its last four games. And in those games, McVay has watched Samuel (the league’s No. 2 player in terms of YAC) run the ball 15 times for 71 yards against him. With two weeks to game plan for the Super Bowl, maybe McVay steals a play from Kyle Shanahan.

Finally, Kupp has been getting handoffs lately, so it’s not like getting a rushing attempt would be something new to him. Kupp has had at least one rushing attempt in four of his last seven games — including one attempt in the NFC Championship Game. ‘

Obviously, with the Under 0.5 at -323, I’m going against the market here. But coaches are known to draw up unique plays for the Super Bowl and because of that, I think we’ll see at least one handoff to Kupp. I’m happy to take the Over 0.5 rushing yards and the +250 that comes with it.
