As February 13 quickly approaches, the schedule tightens for those nursing injuries and perhaps the most impactful injury for Super Bowl 56 is Los Angeles Rams tight end, Tyler Higbee.

Higbee went down with an MCL sprain early into the NFC Championship Game, calling No. 2 TE Kendall Blanton into action. He finished the game with five grabs for 57 yards. With Higbee having not practiced yet, it looks more like Blanton could have a bigger role for the Rams, the favorites in our Super Bowl odds.

Sportsbooks are playing it cool, keeping most Super Bowl player props off the board for both Higbee and Blanton. However, the touchdown scorer markets are up and the two TEs sit with equal odds of reeling in a Big Game score at most books.

With Higbee’s health still up in the air, we’re going to get out in front of any major injury updates and grab what we can now with Blanton to find the end zone in SoFi Stadium next weekend.

Books are dealing Higbee and Blanton at similar odds to score a touchdown in Super Bowl LVI, but Blanton has a decisive edge as it stands on Sunday: he’s 100% playing in the game — or at least will be able to. Higbee runs a big risk of not playing at all, being limited, or reinjuring his knee.

Matthew Stafford loves him some tight end inside the red zone, which is why Higbee ranks seventh in targets inside the 20-yard line among TEs with 12 catches and four touchdowns. The Rams’ attack faces a Cincinnati defense that allowed the fifth-most receiving yards to tight ends and gave up eight touchdowns to the position in the regular season – three of those in the final four games of the schedule.

So far in the postseason, the Bengals have allowed only one touchdown to a tight end — Travis Kelce in the AFC title game — but will have their hands full covering all of Los Angeles’ plethora of pass-catching threats when the Rams come knocking on the end zone.

Blanton, who stands 6-foot-6, has a postseason score under his belt, reeling in a 7-yard TD pass in the first quarter of the Divisional Round at Tampa Bay. He’s caught all seven balls thrown his way in the playoffs for 75 yards – a sharp jump in production compared to his limited work in the regular season.

As mentioned, Blanton has the same TD anytime price as Higbee, but we know he’ll at least be on the field at SoFi next Sunday. And with the clock ticking on Higbee’s health, we’re getting ahead of any news and grabbing the best price on Blanton right now.
