Xavier Worthy Picks, Predictions & Best Bets for Chiefs vs Eagles

Xavier Worthy has shown to be a dual-threat option for the Chiefs offense, breaking off the odd run and excelling in his natural role as a WR. Expect him to break off at least one or two decent runs to clear a modest rush yards prop.

When the Kansas City Chiefs selected wide receiver Xavier Worthy with the No. 28 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the rest of the NFL felt a colder shiver go down their spines.

The speedster out of Texas, who set the NFL Combine 40-yard dash record (4.21 seconds), has not only led the Kansas City receivers heading into Super Bowl LIX but he’s also proven to be a potent option in the running game.

Andy Reid will pull out all the stops against this vaunted Philadelphia Eagles defense, including utilizing his most explosive weapon on the ground. Here are my best Super Bowl player props and predictions for Xavier Worthy odds on Sunday, February 9.

Xavier Worthy prop pick

My best bet
Xavier Worthy Over 6.5 Rushing Yards (-105 at Caesars)

My analysis
This player prop opened as low as 4.5 yards when Super Bowl odds started hitting the board last week and kudos to my Covers.com colleague Josh Inglis for striking while the iron was hot (see the NFL picks page).

The Over has been a popular play, with this total quickly climbing to 6.5 yards at most books. Even with the two-yard increase, Worthy has more than enough pop to blow through this number — and the Philadelphia Eagles defense.

The rookie finished with 104 yards rushing over his 16 regular season outings — an average of 6.5 yards per game (right on the nose for this prop) — and saw his carries spike toward the end of the year when the Kansas City Chiefs really stretched their legs between Week 15 and Week 17 (rushed a collective eight times for 50 total yards) before taking Week 18 off.

In the postseason, Worthy has had mixed results on the ground. He got busted for an eight-yard loss on an end-around versus the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round (due to piss-poor blocking from Travis Kelce) but took two carries for gains of eight yards each (16 total) in the AFC title game.

As Josh highlighted in his analysis, Reid and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy love to keep opponents on their toes. They’re not shy about handing the ball off to a wide receiver, having done so with the likes of Skyy Moore (one run for four yards) and Rashee Rice (two runs for five yards) in their last two Super Bowl appearances. However, neither of those receivers-turned-runners has Worthy's breakneck speed.

Player projections are favorable for Over 6.5 yards as well. Most models came in at seven rushing yards or more from Worthy, with my forecast at north of seven gains on the ground. If Worthy can find a sliver of daylight, he’ll turn on the jets and burn a path in the turf of the Superdome, “Back to the Future” style.

Xavier Worthy same-game parlay

Xavier Worthy Over 6.5 rushing yards

Xavier Worthy 50+ receiving yards

Chiefs moneyline

The Chiefs want to get the ball in Worthy’s hands any way they can and NFL prop projections like seven or more yards from the KC speedster.

Super Bowl LIX forecasts call for at least 50 yards from Worthy, who has quickly become one of Patrick Mahomes’ most trusted targets.

Kansas City has the edge at QB and coaching, boiling this matchup down to the two most important factors.
