Texans vs Jets Picks: Do the Halloween "Mixon Mash" With Our TNF Same Game Parlay

With injuries to Houston's top receivers, our Texans vs. Jets same-game parlay on Thursday Night Football expects RB Joe Mixon to be featured heavily in the offense.

I was working in my lab one Thursday night, when the Texans and Jets got into a primetime fight. For my NFL bets, from the book, began to unite. And suddenly, to my surprise…

…I made a same-game parlay for Thursday Night Football.

It may not be the "Monster Mash," but I am mashing my best NFL picks together for some more Houston Texans vs. New York Jets predictions on Halloween.

Hopefully, my TNF SGP avoids the "tricks" and is all "treats" on October 31.

Texans vs Jets SGP for Week 9

Joe Mixon 3+ receptions

Joe Mixon anytime touchdown

Garrett Wilson 20+ yard reception

My same-game parlay is a little heavy on Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon, who is already playing a huge role in the offense. That workload will increase on the short week, with Houston down top receivers Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs.

Mixon is a capable pass catcher and offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik will find different ways to get the ball in the hands of his top weapon against a sound New York Jets defense.

Mixon has caught at least three passes in three of his five games this season and was targeted six times in last week’s win over Indianapolis. The bulk of his player projections for Week 9 call for more than three receptions tonight.

With that in mind, Mixon is also a great SGP add to score a touchdown on Thursday Night Football. You could call it the "Mixon Mash."

He’s a threat through the air and on the ground and will get the goal-line touches when the Texans enter the red zone. Mixon has made his way to paydirt six times this season and player models sit around 0.6 TDs versus a New York defense giving up a RZ touchdown rate of 71.43% over its last three games.

We close out our "creepy" Halloween same-game parlay with Jets receiver Garrett Wilson hauling down a reception of 20 or more yards. Even with Davante Adams out there, Wilson is still Aaron Rodgers’ top target.

Wilson’s posted a reception of 20+ in three straight games and in five of his last seven and holds a PFF rating of 92.9 on deep routes, being targeted for 12 of those home run balls — tied for 10th most among all wide receivers.

He faces a Texans defense that mixes man and zone coverage (Wilson stronger vs. man than zone) but Houston has been susceptible to bigger passing plays, giving up 21 receptions of 20 or more and six strikes for 40+ yards — tied for third-most in the NFL.
