The New Jersey Devils are looking to get back on track tonight when they host the St. Louis Blues at the Prudential Center.

The Devils are big home favorites on the NHL odds board despite losing three straight, while the Blues have also been struggling a bit as of late with four losses in their last six games.

Both teams have interim coaches with Drew Bannister behind the bench for St. Louis after Craig Berube was fired back in December, and it’ll be Travis Green’s second game as interim head coach after the Devils fired Lindy Ruff earlier this week.

Find out where our best bet lies in our free NHL picks and predictions for Blues vs. Devils on Thursday, March 7.

Blues vs Devils odds

Blues vs Devils predictions

There were initially high expectations this season for the New Jersey Devils, but injuries and goaltending issues have held them back. They enter tonight's matchup with the second-worst SV% in the league at .881.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Blues have had plenty of ups and downs this season. They were in the playoff mix for a while but currently find themselves on the outside looking in.

However, one of the players that has been pretty consistent for the Blues is forward Robert Thomas. Thomas leads the team with 49 assists and 69 points this season, centering the top line with Pavel Buchnevich and Jordan Kyrou.

Thomas failed to register a point in the last two contests against defensive teams like the Flyers and Islanders, ending a three-game point streak for him. However, Thomas has tallied a point (including an assist) in 14 of his last 19 games, racking up a total of 25 points (21 assists) during this stretch.

The Blues' offense has struggled in the past few games but that should change tonight in New Jersey. The Devils have allowed five goals in each of their last two games and 34 goals in their last eight contests.

The Devils have also struggled on the penalty kill at times, which is good news for Thomas' assist prop this evening.

My best bet: Robert Thomas to record an assist (-115 at DraftKings)

Blues vs Devils same-game parlay

Robert Thomas 2+ shots on goal

Blues +1.5

Over 6.5

Along with our best bet, we're backing Thomas to record at least two shots on goal to anchor our SGP. He had four shots in his last game and has gone Over 1.5 shots in seven of his last 10 contests.

We’re also going to go with the Blues to cover the puck line. Although I could very well see St. Louis pulling off the road upset, +1.5 gives us some wiggle room for a team that has a few one-goal losses to their name.

While the Blues have played a few lower-scoring games recently, things should open up in New Jersey. The Devils know they need to score to overcome their goaltending issues, and that should result in a back-and-forth contest.

Blues vs Devils moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Devils odds vary a bit from -175 (BetMGM) to -188 (FanDuel) after opening at -170. The St. Louis Blues odds are also up to as high as +155 (FanDuel) after opening around +140.

The total hasn’t seen much movement, though, with 6.5 listed across all books. Both teams are rested and don’t play Friday, so they should stick with their starting goalies tonight.

That would mean Jordan Binnington for the Blues and probably Nico Daws for the Devils, but New Jersey could very well throw us a curveball.
