The Montreal Canadiens have been red-hot since coming out of the holiday break. They suffered a 5-4 loss in Columbus to end a three-game winning streak going into the holiday, and have come out of it with back-to-back wins in the Sunshine State. They shut out the Panthers 4-0 on Saturday before a 5-2 win in Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Cole Caufield leads the team with 18 goals and is right behind Nick Suzuki with 33 points.

Our top Canadiens vs. Golden Knights predictions and NHL picks are expecting the scoring winger to stay hot on Tuesday, December 31st.

Cole Caufield 1+ point (-115 at BET99)

My Canadiens analysis

Cole Caufield is nearly a point-per-game player this season for the Montreal Canadiens with 33 points in 36 games.

He was held off the scoresheet in Tampa Bay on Sunday but has been fairly consistent over the past month-plus. In fact, Caufield hasn't gone two games without a point since early November. Starting with his two-goal game on November 11th, Caufield has recorded a point in 14 of 19 games. He's picked up 20 points in that span with a point in all but one road game.

Montreal's offense has been hot recently with at least four goals in each of the last six games. While the Vegas Golden Knights usually limit the opposition to two or three goals, Caufield has good odds of being involved in one of those tallies for the Habs.

Overall this season, Caufield has a point in 24 of 36 games. This 66% hit rate is well above the implied probability for Tuesday afternoon.

Golden Knights moneyline

Over 6.5

The Golden Knights have more or less had their way with the Canadiens since the 2021 playoffs. They've won each of the past seven meetings including a 6-2 decision earlier this season. All but one of those seven games have gone over the total with the outlier being a 3-2 overtime game in 2023.

While Caufield and the Canadiens may be able to put up a few goals of their own, we’re taking the Golden Knights here along with the Caufield point in our same-game parlay.
