Flyers vs Blue Jackets Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Carter Hart Saves the Day

Both the Flyers and Blue Jackets have been bitten by injuries this season with several star players on the sidelines for tonight's match in Columbus. The difference will likely be found in net, and our betting picks are looking in Carter Hart's direction.

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers are geared up to play for the second time in 10 days. The Blue Jackets got the best of the Flyers in the last meeting, winning by the score of 5-2, but this time around we might see a different result.

Columbus has a laundry list of injured players and Flyers netminder Carter Hart has been one of the best goalies in the league early on this season and he has the ability to steal a game any night.

This is a great spot for Philly in our free NHL betting picks and predictions for the Flyers vs. Blue Jackets on Tuesday, November 15.

Flyers vs Blue Jackets picks and predictions

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been very unlucky this season when it comes to staying healthy. They are missing so many key contributors to their lineup right now, most notably Patrik Laine and Zach Werenski. They have only won once in their last seven and might spiral in a very bad direction with all of these players missing.

The Philadelphia Flyers aren’t much healthier at the moment, but goalie Carter Hart has been a total difference-maker for them this season. He has one of the best save percentages in the league this season (.937) and a 2.18 GAA with a 6-2-2 record.

If it weren’t for Hart, the Flyers would be in serious trouble. They are struggling offensively, only scoring four total goals across their last three games, but their opponent tonight happens to be one of the worst defensive teams in the league.

The Blue Jackets allow 4.36 goals per game — the second most in the NHL — so for a team that is struggling offensively, the Blue Jackets are a good team to play against to get out of that funk. Not only do they allow a ton of goals, but they also give up the most chances per game along with the second most shots. They are a mess in their own end.

I am putting all of my faith in Hart tonight because the Blue Jackets cannot be trusted. I think the Flyers can take advantage of a weakened Columbus blue line while Hart puts on a show.

Flyers vs Blue Jackets moneyline analysis

The Flyers have been off to a pleasantly surprising start to this season. John Tortorella is definitely starting to shift the culture in the locker room as he has them playing very hard night in and night out.

This game isn’t necessarily about the Flyers but is more about how much trouble the Blue Jackets are in. Not only are they a mess defensively, but they are going to have to figure out how to be better in their own end without their best defenseman as Werenski is likely out for the season with a shoulder injury.

To make matters even worse, their offensive production will also be affected as they are without Laine, Jakub Voracek, and Kent Johnson. Things are falling apart quickly in Columbus.

The Flyers have been able to beat some good teams this year and they will be looking for revenge as they lost 10 days ago to the Blue Jackets even though they actually played pretty well. I think this will be a good bounce-back game for Philadelphia.

Flyers vs Blue Jackets Over/Under analysis

The Flyers and Blue Jackets both have some offensively talented players, but many of them won’t be playing tonight. I’ve focused a lot on who the Blue Jackets are missing, but the Flyers will be without James van Riemsdyk, Sean Couturier, and Cam Atkinson, three of their best forwards.

Columbus might be a mess in its own end, but the Flyers have had trouble scoring goals as is so this won’t be a very wide-open game. One thing both teams have in common is their struggles on the man advantage, as they both rank within the Bottom 5 of the league in power-play success. The Flyers are converting on 16% of their power plays and the Blue Jackets are at an anemic 8.1%.

I don’t think there will be many goals tonight.
