There have been five or fewer total goals scored in four of Vegas’ past six games, which should not be all that shocking given the make-up of this team. The blue line is loaded while the forward group features an abundance of players who value playing both ways.

At 5-on-5, the Golden Knights rank in the top half of the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). As for all strengths, Vegas ranks 14th in goals scored per game but fourth in goals allowed per game.

Backing up this defensively-sound group is goaltender Adin Hill, who continues to be marvelous between the pipes. Through 11 starts, Hill is 8-2-1 with a .929 SV% and 2.07 GAA.

Out of the 27 goaltenders to start at least 10 games this year, Hill ranks sixth in goals saved above expected per 60 minutes (GSAx/60) at 5-on-5. This success is likely to continue against Dallas, a team he’s dominated throughout his career.

Through 10 starts against the Stars, Hill boasts a .925 SV% and 2.40 GAA. There were five or fewer total goals scored in six of those 10 games.

Across the ice, goaltender Jake Oettinger should have no issue keeping up with Hill. Through 12 starts this season, Oettinger is 8-3-1 with a .920 SV% and 2.50 GAA.

His job is made much easier due to Dallas’ tremendous blue line. At 5-on-5, the Stars rank 10th in xGA/60.

Two excellent defenses, goaltenders, and penalty-killing units should all keep this game low-scoring. Both teams rank in the Top 10 of the league in PK%.

These are obviously two very strong teams, which should give us a competitive game. There’s not really a weakness on the ice for either side, as both teams rank in the top half of the league xGA/60 and expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) at 5-on-5.

Both goaltenders are also tremendous, but Oettinger’s track record against Vegas is especially dominant. Through five regular starts against the Knights, he’s 4-0-1 with a .956 SV% and 1.32 GAA.

It’s pretty much an even matchup, but with home ice give me Oettinger and the Stars to hand Vegas its third straight loss.

The Stars opened as a –126 favorite and have since been bet up to -134. This line movement is not all that surprising given their home ice advantage and the fact that the Knights have lost two straight games to teams that are not on Dallas’ level.

That brings us to the total, which opened at 5.5 and remains at that number. In a Hill/Oettinger battle and two very strong blue lines, I don't think we will see the total balloon to 6.5.
