The New York Rangers and New York Islanders are getting set for their rematch after the Rangers went onto Long Island and defeated the Islanders by the score of 5-1 just last week.
The Rangers will be playing the second leg of a back-to-back, but they’ve been finding ways to score lately. As for the Islanders, they put up seven goals in their last game, so they’re feeling confident as well. My Islanders vs Rangers predictions expect another high-scoring affair tonight.

My analysis
Over the past several games, the New York Rangers and New York Islanders have both been scoring with purpose and regularity.
The Rangers are 3-2-0 in their last five, and have been averaging 3.60 goals per contest while surrendering 3.00 goals against.
Since the start of February, there isn’t a player in the NHL with more points than Mika Zibanejad, who has been thriving since J.T. Miller's arrival via trade. Zibanejad has moved to the right wing from center and has 15 points in his last 10 games (four goals, 11 assists). Miller has also made the transition feel like he is right at home, putting up 12 points (six goals, six assists) in his first 10 games back with the organization he started with.
For the Islanders, Brock Nelson has been producing at a very high rate and doesn’t seem to let his name being discussed in trade affect him. Nelson has nine points in his last nine games (four goals, five assists) and has put together another solid season with 41 points. The Islanders are averaging 3.25 goals over their last four games, but have allowed 3.50 per game in the same span.
The goalie matchup looks like it will be Igor Shesterkin vs. Ilya Sorokin, and both goalies have a sub-.900 save percentage in their last four starts.
Shesterkin is 2-2-0 in his last four appearances but has skated to a .890 save percentage with a 3.67 goals against average. As for Sorokin, he is also 2-2-0 and is skating to a .869 save percentage with a 3.85 goals against average.
Both goalies haven’t been at their best, so it’s hard to rely on getting the saves
Islanders vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)
The Rangers sit two points back of the wild card and have looked much better in their last two games. The Islanders have won back-to-back games as well, but this team has struggled to find consistency. The Rangers have won three of their last four games and are the better team right now. The Rangers have a clear advantage in the special teams department, and that will be the difference in tonight’s outcome.
Miller has been nothing but consistent since joining the Rangers. He’s got points in five straight games since coming back from the 4 Nations Face-Off. He gets plenty of ice time at even strength and reps on the top power-play unit, as a lot of the offense flows through him.
