Winnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk has had one thing on his mind since returning from the 4 Nations Face-Off break: shooting the puck.
Pionk has 13 shots on goal (27 total attempts) in his four games since the break. He’s been much more aggressive with the puck lately compared to his season totals of 107 shots in 60 games.
It’s not just this past week that Pionk has impressed, though. He now has at least two shots on goal in seven straight games, with 41 shot attempts in that span. He’s been held to fewer than two SOG in just one of his last 12 contests.
The Philadelphia Flyers have limited shots on goal since the break with the Penguins getting just 25 pucks on net on Thursday night. However, the Penguins’ three top defensemen all had multiple SOG in that one, including four for Erik Karlsson.
