We’ve got nine games on the NHL betting slate today, including a marquee matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs at Rogers Place.
I’m looking at the tremendous value in the Auston Matthews goal market tonight and like it enough to secure the wager as my best bet of the night.

My Leafs pick
Auston Matthews anytime goal (+130 at Sports Interaction)
My Leafs analysis
It’s been the Connor McDavid vs. Auston Matthews show in most of those outings as two of the top players on the planet.
It’s Matthews I want to focus on for my best bet tonight, though, as the value on the books is far too juicy to let slip away at +130. You rarely ever see a number like that for his goal prop, especially when he’s rolling the way he has lately.
Since returning from his injury 12 games ago, Matthews has nine tucks in that span and is looking more and more like his three-time Rocket winner self as each game passes. He’s also always shown up to play whenever he squares off against McDavid.
AM34 has scored in three straight contests vs. the Oilers and has 11 goals and 17 points in his last 13 games against them. After being named captain of Team USA’s Four Nations Faceoff, he should be motivated to show the world why on the big stage on HNIC.
Additionally, the Leafs are getting some reinforcements back tonight, which should help generate offense. John Tavares and Matthew Knies will return to the lineup, with the latter heading back to Matthews’ wing.
The trio of Matthews, Marner, and Knies was clicking when the young 22-year-old went down, ranking as the #1 line in hockey in terms of expected goals per 60 minutes among trios that have played 250+ minutes together this season while converting at a 3.88 G/60 rate.
The healthy bodies should help get this offense going, but it’s always going to be Auston Matthews, who needs to be at his best in matchups like these. I like the Leafs captain to show up tonight in a big spotlight game in Edmonton.
Maple Leafs vs Oilers same-game parlay (SGP)
For the first leg of the SGP, we’ll stick with the best bet and take Matthews to score an anytime goal and keep his streak alive against the Oilers.
Next up, we’ll continue riding the Matthews prop trains and take him to record 4+ shots on goal tonight. He’s gone over this number in four of his last six games and has averaged 4.15 shots per game in his career when facing the Oilers.
For the final leg of our SGP, let’s continue to attack the shots props and go across the aisle and grab former Maple Leaf Zach Hyman to record 2+ shots on net. He’s hit this total in seven of his last 10 outings and is averaging 2.91 shots per game this season.
