We’ve got another important two points available in tonight’s Atlantic Division clash between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings.
Toronto’s power play seems to be heating up after busting out of an 0-for-20 skid a couple of games ago, and I expect the unit to stay hot tonight with great odds offered on William Nylander to record a PP point.

My Leafs pick
William Nylander Over 0.5 power play points (+225 at Sports Interaction)
My Leafs analysis
The Toronto Maple Leafs look to have figured things out on the power play after starting the season just 4-for-40 (10%).
The Buds have now cashed in on four of their last nine opportunities over the last two contests, raising their power play success rate by nearly five percentage points (14.9%).
William Nylander has played a massive role in the turnaround with power-play goals in back-to-back games while factoring into five of the team's seven converted opportunities. With Auston Matthews likely to miss tonight’s game again, I’m banking on Willy being the triggerman on the top unit.
The Swedish winger has been a big part of this team’s PP success for a while now. He led the team with 35 points on the man advantage last season and now leads them with three of the seven goals already this year.
Additionally, the Detroit Red Wings penalty kill has been awful this season, killing off just 69.4% of their penalties, which ranks 29th in the NHL.
A big reason for this is the inability to limit scoring chances while down a man. The Red Wings rank in the Top 5 in both scoring chances allowed (71.17/60) and expected goals against per 60 (9.61).
This should bode well for a Leafs' power play generating chances at an elite rate, ranking fourth in high-danger chances with 32.4 per 60 minutes of 5-on-4.
Nylander is the focal point of PP1 and has the best value at +225 to get a point on the man advantage tonight.
Maple Leafs vs Red Wings same-game parlay (SGP)
Nylander leads the team with 10 goals this season and becomes the No. 1 option offensively for Toronto when Auston Matthews is out.
He’s hit the two-plus shot mark in four straight games and nine of his last 12 contests. Additionally, the Red Wings are giving up the second most shots on goal per game in the NHL (33.7), so there’s plenty of opportunity to fire rubber on goal.
I’ll also back Matthew Knies to record 2+ shots tonight. Knies has 11 multi-shot games so far this season through 14 games and is playing on line with Max Domi and Mitch Marner — two pass-first forwards who are likely to feed him pucks all night.
Plus, Knies has been elevated to the top PP unit in the absence of Matthews. More ice time means more chances to fire pucks on net.
