Two of the top teams in the Western Conference will duke it out Monday night when the Edmonton Oilers play host to the Los Angeles Kings.
My Kings vs. Oilers predictions see a pair of snipers making their presence felt, with Leon Draisaitl continuing to prey on a division rival.
Oilers vs Kings prediction
My Oilers pick
Leon Draisaitl anytime goalscorer (+115 at BET99)
My Oilers analysis
Leon Draisaitl is the best goalscorer in the NHL right now. He leads the league with 31 goals through just 42 games, putting him six clear of second-place Mikko Rantanen.
Draisaitl is an elite finisher who's taken his shot generation to a different level. He has already registered nearly 61% of last season’s shot output while playing only 42 games.
He's always been a top-tier finisher. With an increase in shot volume on a nightly basis — he’s averaging 3.1 shots on goal compared to 2.7 last year — it’s no surprise we’re seeing Draisaitl find the back of the net even more frequently.
Draisaitl’s been a model of consistency thus far. His longest goal drought on the season is just two games and he’s only done that three times. That’s right; Draisaitl has gone back-to-back games without a goal three times through more than half of an NHL season. That's unfathomable.
The Los Angeles Kings are a very good defensive team and have been for years. Even they haven’t found a solution for slowing down Draisaitl.
Edmonton enters this game as sizeable favorites, flirting with -200 on the moneyline. That is certainly noteworthy, as Draisaitl has found the back of the net in 69% of Edmonton’s wins this season.
Oilers vs Kings same-game parlay (SGP)
Draisaitl has averaged 3.1 shots per game this season and cleared 2.5 at a healthy 62% clip. He's ramped things up a notch further of late, averaging 3.6 over his last 20 games.
The Kings are an excellent shot-suppression side, but that hasn’t stopped Draisaitl from feasting on them in the past. Draisaitl has recorded at least three shots in 13 of the past 16 games against an L.A. team he sees a ton of within the division.
Draisaitl has also gotten the job done in seven of the last eight home games against the Kings, averaging a whopping 4.75 shots in that span.
Kempe is another guy who seemingly saves his best for this Pacific Division rivalry. Playoffs included, he’s faced the Oilers 31 times since 2021. He cleared 2.5 shots in 27 of them, producing an average of 4.6 shots per night.
He has seen the Oilers only once this season, but his shooting success continued in that game — Kempe recorded four shots on goal.
