Best NHL player prop bets for April 28

Lane Hutson Over 0.5 points (-140 at Sports Interaction)

The Montreal Canadiens host the Washington Capitals to kick off the evening portion of Sunday’s slate. Montreal enters this game trailing 2-1 in the series, but there is some optimism for its ability to even the series due to Washington’s goaltending concerns.

Logan Thompson was peppered in Game 3, surrendering five goals on 35 shots. However, his exit in the third period had more to do with an injury than his performance.

Thompson couldn’t put weight on his leg and didn’t practice Saturday, meaning backup goaltender Charlie Lindgren is likely to get the nod. That is good news for Lane Hutson and company, given that Lindgren owns an .876 SV% over his past nine appearances.

Meanwhile, Hutson has recorded three points through as many games in this series.

Adrian Kempe Over 0.5 power-play points (+165 at Sports Interaction)

The nightcap features Game 4 between the Los Angeles Kings and the Edmonton Oilers. The Kings enter this matchup with a 2-1 series lead, thanks in large part to their dominance on special teams.

They are a remarkable 7-for-12 on the power play through the first three games of this series, and there’s no reason to stray from targeting that market once again in Game 4.

Edmonton has struggled mightily to both avoid penalties and kill them off, and players like Adrian Kempe have made the Oilers pay for those mistakes. Kempe has registered nine points through the first three games, with three of those points coming on the man advantage.

Kevin Fiala Over 0.5 power-play points (+200 at Sports Interaction)

The thinking here is simple: we’re guaranteed a profit if either Kempe or Kevin Fiala produce on special teams, and if both do, all the better.

Kempe and Fiala skate together on the first power-play unit, which should see plenty of opportunities as Edmonton has taken 12 penalties through the first four games. Not only do the Oilers take frequent penalties, but they also have struggled to kill them at a troubling 42% rate.

That’s good news for the Kings duo, who have combined for seven power-play points this series. They have also each contributed at least one power-play point in each of the first three games of this opening round.
