Best NHL Player Props Today for Feb. 26: Batherson Shines With More Opportunity

Drake Batherson has strong shooting volume numbers at home and could have his number called more often tonight with Brady Tkachuk out of the lineup.

It’s a three-game slate on the ice on Wednesday, February 26, and my top NHL player props have you covered for all three.

The Senators host the Jets to open the action, and the nightcap is a Pacific Division showdown featuring the Canucks and Kings. Here are my top NHL picks.

NHL prop picks and best bets for February 26

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Drake Batherson 3+ shots on goal (+178 at FanDuel)

This is a long price considering Ottawa Senators winger Drake Batherson has recorded 3+ shots in four of his past six games and the Sens will be without multiple go-to forwards. He’s second on the club in shots per 60 minutes and could see an uptick in shooting opportunities with team leader Brady Tkachuk (lower body) out of the lineup.

Additionally, while the Winnipeg Jets are an excellent defensive team on the surface, they still allow a healthy 29.1 shots per road game and rank 22nd with a 48.2 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5 on the highway.

Similarly, Batherson’s 6.14 shots per 60 minutes and 1.87 shots per game on the road jump to 8.64 per 60 and 2.69 per game at home.

Nico Hischier Under 0.5 points (+115 at bet365)

This is a tough matchup for New Jersey Devils center Nico Hischier. He’ll likely be tasked with lining up opposite Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon for a huge chunk of Wednesday’s game, and the Devils have Hischier centering a new-look trio with wingers Tomas Tatar and Stefan Noesen.

I don’t like the offensive upside of Hischier’s new line, and MacKinnon dominates at 5-on-5 on home ice with a 57.7 Corsi For percentage and 57.5 expected goals percentage.

Of course, the Avalanche have also flipped the defensive page since acquiring goalie — and former Devil — Mackenzie Blackwood. He sports a .926 save percentage and 1.86 GAA across 12 starts at Ball Arena.

Brock Boeser Under 0.5 points (-120 at DraftKings)

The Vancouver Canucks are 3-3-1 with just 14 goals since trading away J.T. Miller, and Canucks winger Brock Boeser has missed the scoresheet in six of his past eight games.

Miller and Boeser lined up frequently at 5-on-5 and were on the ice for 2.87 goals and 2.65 expected goals per 60 minutes this season, and Boeser has been on for just 1.76 and 2.25 per 60 without Miller.

Add Boeser dropping down the depth chart at even strength to the Los Angeles Kings allowing the second-fewest goals per home game (2.17) and this is a good spot to fade the veteran winger.
