My analysis

The Nashville Predators’ 0-5 start to the campaign created cause for concern. However, the group is starting to figure things out following three consecutive victories, averaging 3.7 goals scored per game over that stretch.

Star forward Filip Forsberg scored in two of those three games, and his impact is just getting started. He leads the team in goals, points, and shots on goal.

Forsberg skates on the first line alongside Ryan O’Reilly and Gustav Nyquist, a group that ranks fourth among the 34 lines to play at least 60 minutes this season in xGF/60. Among those 34 lines is the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Jake Guentzel, Brayden Point, and Nikita Kucherov grouping.

They are tasked with going against that Nashville first line, which is good news for Forsberg as the Guentzel-Point-Kucherov line ranks 30th among those 34 lines in xGA/60.

Forsberg also skates with the first powerplay unit, which is another way to beat the Bolts. This season, Tampa ranks 20th in penalty minutes taken per game and 27th in penalty kill percentage.

Predators vs Lightning same-game parlay (SGP)

Filip Forsberg anytime goal

Ryan O’Reilly 1+ assists

Predators moneyline

If Forsberg finds the back of the net, then O’Reilly is more likely than not to be involved in the play. O’Reilly has assisted on two of Forsberg’s four goals this season.

If we are backing these two skaters to record points, then there is an increased probability of Nashville winning this game. This season, the Preds outrank the Lightning in xGF/60, xGA/60 and expected goal differential per 60 minutes.
