Senators vs Maple Leafs Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Playoffs Game 2

DiStefano's prediction: John Tavares doesn't let up and keeps ripping as many shots as possible at the Ottawa net, clearing his 2.5 SOG prop in the process.

The Battle of Ontario continues tonight with Game 2 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators at Scotiabank Arena.

John Tavares picked up right where he left off in the regular season with a six-shot, two-point performance, and I expect him to be all over the puck again tonight.

Find out why with my free NHL picks for this Tuesday, April 22 matchup.

Who will win Senators vs Maple Leafs Game 2?

Don't expect the Toronto Maple Leafs to take their feet off the gas in Game 2 against the Ottawa Senators. Toronto vastly outplayed Ottawa in Game 1, and more of the same will follow tonight.

Linus Ullmark looked shaky and has a spotty playoff history in general, making a Senators split feel increasingly unlikely. The Buds head to the nation's capital with a 2-0 series lead.

Senators vs Maple Leafs prediction

My Senators vs Maple Leafs pick: John Tavares Over 2.5 shots on goal (+110 at Sports Interaction)

The Toronto Maple Leafs look to take a 2-0 series lead against the Ottawa Senators tonight.

The Leafs won Game One 6-2, and Toronto’s ‘Core Four’ combined for nine points and 15 shots on goal, with both Auston Matthews and John Tavares leading the way with six shots apiece.

I expect another busy night in the shot department for those two Buds, especially Tavares.

The Leafs pivot plays a simple, straight-line game conducive to finding success in the playoffs due to the necessity of going into the tough areas of the ice.

His 104 high-danger shots ranked fifth in the NHL this season, and that propensity to battle for middle ice is what allowed him to reach six shots in Game 1 and score the eventual game-winning goal.

Tavares will need to play with the same level of urgency for getting pucks toward the net, which should allow for shot opportunities.

Additionally, he's has been locked in recently, recording three or more shots in three of his last five games, and has gone Over the number in four of his previous five meetings against the Senators.

Senators vs Maple Leafs same-game parlay (SGP)

John Tavares 3+ shots on goal

Auston Matthews 3+ shots on goal

Maple Leafs moneyline

We’ll continue to bet on the shots market and take Matthews to register 3+. The Leafs' captain averages 3.89 shots per game and is averaging 3.5 shots per contest over the last 10 games between the Leafs and the Sens.

For the final leg of my SGP, let’s take the Maple Leafs on the moneyline as I expect them to go up 2-0 at home. The Buds showed they were the superior team in Game 1, and Ottawa seems to have a goalie problem with Linus Ullmark letting in four or more goals in 60% of his playoff starts.
