Juventus vs Man City Predictions, Picks and Odds for Today's Champions League Match

Both teams enter Wednesday's critical UCL clash in need of three points, and despite their current form, Sam Farley believes both teams have enough attacking power to find the back of the net.

We have a big Champions League meeting today with Juventus and Manchester City clashing at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy.

Neither team is in great form, with Juventus drawing their past four games, while Man City have just one win across their last nine fixtures in all competitions.

With defensive consistency out of reach, my Juventus vs. Manchester City predictions expect both teams to bag a goal.

Juventus vs Man City picks and predictions

My best bet:
Both teams to score — Yes (-118 at TonyBet)

My analysis

We have a fascinating matchup in the Champions League on Wednesday with Juventus hosting Man City. Juventus are European royalty, a blue-blood team with an incredible history, while City are still very much the new money in the European game.

Both clubs find themselves in a similar spot after five of eight Champions League group games. Both teams sit on eight points with an identical record of two wins, two draws, and one defeat. With three games left there’s plenty of time to continue picking up points, but getting something from this game will be on the mind of both managers.

Juventus will be afraid of City, despite their recent struggles that have seen them win just one game in their past nine. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s team will be well aware of the difficulty of playing Juventus at their place, especially given that they’ve been great defensively this year. Despite that defensive record, our best bet is for Both teams to score.

They may be tied for the best defensive record in Serie A but Juventus have let it slip recently. They’ve allowed 10 goals in 15 games, but after eight games they’d allowed just a single goal. Giving up nine goals in their past seven league matches is very bad news when you’re about to play Man City, a team who are still scoring goals, despite struggling to win games. In the Champions League, they’ve also been giving up more goals than you’d hope with an average of a goal per game. Juventus’ biggest issue is scoring goals but Dusan Vlahovic has now returned from injury, and their strike force is looking far more dangerous.

We know about the threat that Man City offer going forward, they have Erling Haaland amongst their ranks, who has already scored five in five in this competition and 13 in the Premier League. Despite this being a disastrous season for City so far, they’ve still managed to score 27 goals in 15 Premier League games and 13 goals in this competition, an average of 2.6 goals per game.

The biggest issue for City is that without Rodri they’re giving up goals far too easily. They’re missing the anchor in their midfield, in addition to his regular midfield partner Mateo Kovacic, as well as a number of defenders including Nathan Ake and John Stones. In addition to that their team is aging and players like Kyle Walker aren’t quite as effective as they’ve been previously.

City have allowed 21 goals in 15 Premier League games and over one per game, with seven in five in the Champions League. Their nine-game spell with just one win has seen just one clean sheet. They’ve given up a staggering 21 goals in that time. Even this past weekend they allowed Crystal Palace to score two.

On paper you’d think that with the quality City have, they should get the win, however, given recent form they can’t be trusted to get the three points. They have shown a constant ability to score goals and also give up far too many. That makes Both teams to score the safest bet on Wednesday.

Juventus vs Man City same-game parlay (SGP)

Both teams to score

Draw

Erling Haaland to score

In addition to our best bet, we’re going to back the final result to be a draw. These are two decent teams but both are undergoing some struggles right now. Juventus have tied their past four games in all competitions, while City have tied two of their last four with just one win in nine games. Both teams are still in the running in the Champions League table, so a draw wouldn’t hurt either side.

The final leg sees us backing City’s Erling Haaland to score. The big Norweigan is one of the world’s best finishers and has five goals in five Champions League games so far. He also has 13 in 15 Premier League games, a great record given City’s struggles.
