Liverpool vs Lille Predictions & Picks for Tuesday’s Champions League Match

Lille is being overlooked in a major way vs. Liverpool, and that has our soccer betting picks leaning hard on the double result for Jonathan David's side.

The Champions League returns on Tuesday, and the top team Liverpool welcome an impressive Lille to Anfield.

While Liverpool are probably the best team in Europe right now on current form, there’s a feeling that Lille are being underrated here. That’s why my Liverpool vs. Lille predictions have Lille escaping with either a draw or a win.

Liverpool vs Lille picks and predictions

My best bet:
Lille to win or draw (+225 at TonyBet)

My analysis

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are the only team to have won all six UCL games and sit top of the 36-team table. Only the Top 8 teams qualify automatically for the next round, with teams nine to 24 meeting in a playoff. With Liverpool six points clear of Dortmund in ninth, the Reds need a single point in their final two games to confirm an automatic spot. Meanwhile, Lille are in eighth and need to keep on winning if they’re to avoid the playoff.

Liverpool have been fantastic this season but Lille are a good team and the odds of them to draw (+500) or win (+800) are bigger than they should be. With that in mind, I'm backing either a Lille win or draw on the double chance market, meaning we win with either of those results.

Liverpool’s next game isn’t until Ipswich on Saturday, and they’re unlikely to rest players on Tuesday for the visit of a newly promoted team four days later. However, with qualification all but guaranteed, there’s probably a chance of Liverpool not quite being at their very best.

Teams need to be at their very best to beat this Lille team, who have been impressive during the group stages of the Champions League as well as in Ligue 1, where they’re in third place. They’ve won four of their six UCL games, upsetting other giants like Real Madrid and their city rivals Atletico, while slipping to a draw against Juventus.

Their only defeat came on the road to Sporting Lisbon, but can perhaps be explained by playing with 10 men for the majority of the game thanks to Angel Gomes picking up a red card.

Domestically, Lille have lost just two of their 18 games and have the second-best defensive record in Ligue 1 behind leaders PSG. They’re 21 games unbeaten and have found ways to grind out results in recent weeks, featuring a tense draw against Marseille in the French Cup before going on to win on penalties. They have a legitimate goal-scorer in Jonathan David, a mix of both experience and youth, and are a team who work incredibly hard on and off the ball.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen some signs of tiredness from Liverpool’s machine with just two wins in five games in 2025. They beat Brentford on Saturday, but their other win was a 4-0 victory over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup, with Accrington some three divisions below them. Outside of that, they’ve drawn to both Man United and Nottingham Forest, as well as losing 1-0 to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.

As good as Liverpool are, there’s a real feeling that they’re there for the taking if they don’t show up at 100% again, which is possible with both tiredness creeping into their starting lineup and possible complacency at a job nearly done in the Champions League.

Liverpool are rightfully favorites for all that they’ve achieved this season, but Lille are underpriced here.

Liverpool vs Lille same-game parlay (SGP)

Lille to win or draw

Both teams to score - Yes

Jonathan David to score

In addition to my best bet, I'm going to back both teams to score. Liverpool have averaged over two goals per game in both this competition and domestically and have Mohamed Salah, who is incredible form right now.

While Lille are a great value price to get something from this game, there’s still a very real chance that the home team score at least one goal.

When it comes to scoring goals for Lille, there’s only man to mention, and that’s Jonathan David.

He’s had a great season so far and is only behind Robert Lewandowski in the Champions League goal-scoring table, with six goals in as many games. Add that to the 11 goals in 18 Ligue 1 games, and you can see a player really blossoming into one of the best strikers in Europe.
