West Ham is unbeaten in three at home as they prepare to host a Bournemouth side that haven't won two on the road.

The Hammers are winless in two Premier League matches despite their unbeaten home streak, while Bournemouth has a single win in their previous five encounters. The home side trails Bournemouth by two points in the standings and will leapfrog the Cherries with a victory on Monday.

West Ham vs Bournemouth picks and predictions

West Ham signed Gianluca Scamacca in the summer to alleviate the goalscoring burden felt by Michail Antonio. Like countless foreign players beforehand, it took Scamacca time to adapt to the pace and physicality of the top flight.

David Moyes eased Scamacca into proceedings, introducing the Italian as a substitute in his first three appearances. The 23-year-old made his first Premier League start in the 1-0 away victory at Aston Villa, in which he played 65 goalless minutes before being withdrawn. Not in the squad for the next two fixtures, he was again utilized as a substitute in the 1-0 away win over Everton on Sept. 18.

Instead, Moyes made Scamacca an influential figure in West Ham’s Europa Conference League matches, in which he’s scored two goals in four appearances. Now he’s the central pillar of West Ham’s Premier League attack.

In his second Premier League start, Scamacca scored his first goal in the Hammers’ 2-0 home win over Wolves. It wasn’t just the goal but its timing and importance that endeared him to Hammers’ faithful.

At the time, West Ham was in the relegation zone, trailing Wolves by two points. The talisman scored the all-important opener, helping his side leapfrog Wolves and leave the relegation zone in the rear-view mirror.

Scamacca followed up that instrumental goal with another in the next home game via a deft scooped lob in the 3-1 win over Fulham. He failed to score in West Ham’s previous two matches, both of which were on the road.

However, he’ll be chomping at the bit to get on the scoresheet in his third-straight home game against the league’s second-most porous away rearguard. In Bournemouth’s defense, they conceded nine goals at Anfield under Scott Parker’s former regime.

They’ve allowed six in three away matches since, which is still not a defensive record deserving of plaudits.

My best bet: Gianluca Scamacca to score (+175 at bet365)

West Ham vs Bournemouth side analysis

After taking just one point in their first three home matches, the Hammers have won two consecutive at London Stadium. West Ham had the eight-best home record last season and would be content with a similar output in the 2022-23 campaign.

Moyes will be proud of how his side acquitted themselves in the recent wins over Wolves and Fulham. The Scotsman should expect a similar match when Bournemouth invades London Stadium on Monday.

Bournemouth has five points from a possible 15 on the road, the league’s 10th-best away record as of Oct. 22. Their single away victory, a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, occurred on Sept. 3.

Bournemouth is unbeaten in three away tests since Gary O’Neil took the interim helm, drawing Newcastle 1-1 and Fulham 2-2 after the win at City Ground. Despite their impressive recent road return, Bournemouth’s goal difference – even excluding conceding nine goals at Liverpool — will concern O’Neil.

Including the Liverpool debacle, the Cherries have conceded 18 goals and scored just six in their travels. Look for West Ham to win a tight encounter, ending O’Neil’s unbeaten road record.

West Ham vs Bournemouth Over/Under analysis

Four of Bournemouth’s five away outings resulted in the Over. However, two of those occurred at Anfield and the Etihad, which, even with Liverpool’s recent malaise, represent the most daunting away fixtures in the top flight. Bournemouth conceded 13 goals in those two away fixtures and allowed five in the remaining three on the road.

Meanwhile, four of West Ham’s five home contests resulted in the Under. Expect this contest to follow the Under script. Both teams desperately need the points, and neither team — particularly considering their respective places in the standings — can afford to play an expansive, open brand of football.

West Ham’s only home Over came in the 3-1 win against Fulham. Three of West Ham’s home encounters ended 2-0, two of which were losses. That’s the type of match people should expect at London Stadium on Monday, with Moyes’ Hammers prevailing.
