Paolina vs Andreeva match prediction

It should come as no surprise that Jasmine Paolini has reached this stage, as the 28-year-old Italian has always possessed a positively exciting brand of tennis and some real talent on the clay courts.

Paolini upset Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals and has been dazzling some solid opponents left and right with her exquisite shot-making ability. Along the way, Paolini has also taken out Bianca Andreescu and Elina Avanesyan.

On the other side of the court, Mirra Andreeva’s run has featured three quality wins as well, but I don’t rate her draw nearly the same as Paolini’s. She also was fortunate to run into an apparently ill Aryna Sabalenka on Wednesday, and even then, had a very difficult time pulling the upset.

Andreeva’s fitness has to be called into question after her latest match, which finished less than 24 hours after Thursday's scheduled semifinal. She's also had some head-scratching Grand Slam results over the last couple of seasons, which have always seemed to come on the heels of a massive victory.

I'm taking the more experienced player in Paolini to come away with this one, as I expect her to outlast Adnreeva in a war of attrition.

Prediction: Paolina moneyline (+115 at DraftKings)

Paolina vs Andreeva best bet

21.5 games is a pretty standard line in women’s tennis, and given the nature of both players’ recent wins, this match should be anything but straightforward.

Paolini threw away quite a few leads before defeating Rybakina in three sets on Wednesday, failing to play well from the front. This was the same story against Andreescu, and even in her second-round win over Hailey Baptiste, she nearly went three sets after winning a long second-set tiebreaker.

The angle here is all about the fitness of Andreeva, and I ultimately expect her to fade as the match goes on. On the flip side, Paolina has played three consecutive three-set matches and will almost surely drop her level in this one, even if she takes the first set.

Best bet: Over 21.5 games (-110 at DraftKings)
