UFC 314 matches a featherweight legend against a prospect-turned-contender when Alexander Volkanovski faces off against Diego Lopes for the vacant title. The UFC prelims feature exciting bouts between fresh faces and a No. 1 contender match at women’s strawweight that we feel are great values to prop up your weekend betting.

Here are my best free UFC 314 preliminary picks and predictions from the Kaseya Center in Miami.

UFC 314 prelim odds and picks

Marco Tulio vs Tresean Gore fight odds

Bet99
Method of Victory Tulio Gore
To win outright -500 +350
To win by KO/TKO/DQ +105 +1500
To win by decision or technical decision +375 +850
To win by submission +380 +1250
Draw +2500 +2500

Odds as of 4-12.

Macro Tulio turned heads while nearly knocking Ihor Poteria’s clean off in January, and he’s back less than three months later against an improving Tresean Gore.

While Tulio might be careless when he pressures his opponents, that’s because he has dynamite in his hands and can quickly find his targets to score knockouts. Gore has won two fights in a row by submission at a point where it looked like he was primed to get washed out of the promotion, and he’ll make things easy for Tulio as he tends to rush ahead and get himself in trouble with his poor striking defense and not having a developed ground game to fall back on.

Though Gore might be more willing to try getting things on the ground, I see this as a fight that doesn’t go the distance, no matter who wins. I’m going with Tulio to win, but my best bet is that this fight goes Under 1.5 rounds.

Prediction: Marco Tulio moneyline (-385 at BET99)
Best Bet: Under 1.5 rounds (+105 at BET99)

Nora Cornolle vs Hailey Cowan fight odds

Bet99
Method of Victory Cornolle Cowan
To win outright -225 +185
To win by KO/TKO/DQ +405 +1750
To win by decision or technical decision +120 +315
To win by submission +625 +850
Draw +2500 +2500

Odds as of 4-12.

Our opening bout pits two fighters of similar molds trying to find their groove in the UFC. Hailey Cowan is two years removed from her last fight, a disappointing loss to Jamey-Lyn Horth, and hasn’t looked particularly viable as a UFC competitor despite a win on the Contender Series three years ago.

Nora Cornolle packs legitimate power and toughness despite coming across as raw, and that should prevent Cowan from getting her on the mat and overtaking her in striking exchanges.

The time off to recover from injuries and refine her technique isn’t going to work too well for Cowan. She’ll find herself outgunned in the striking and unable to do much besides hope to blindly shoot takedowns in hopes of finding a submission. I’ll take Cornolle by decision or knockout.

Prediction: Nora Cornolle moneyline (-225 at BET99)
Best Bet: Cornolle by decision or knockout (-125 at BET99)

Virna Jandiroba vs Yan Xiaonan fight odds

Bet99
Method of Victory Jandiroba Xiaonan
To win outright -145 +115
To win by KO/TKO/DQ +1700 +640
To win by decision or technical decision +190 +185
To win by submission +275 +2700
Draw +2500 +2500

Odds as of 4-12.

Though this No. 1 contender match looks to be competitive, this is a bad match-up for Yan Xiaonan, who historically performs poorly against anyone who can grapple. Carla Esparza routed her in 2021, and Weili Zhang looked like a wrestling machine when she similarly mauled her two fights ago.

Virna Jandiroba is a suffocating wrestler who has been actively improving her striking, and Xiaonan doesn’t have the power or evasiveness to avoid her closing the distance and making things very difficult.

Jandiroba isn’t the most entertaining fighter, but her wrestling is reason enough to pick her to win. Expect Xiaonan to mistakenly close the distance, leaving her open to takedowns and getting shut down by Jandiroba’s grappling. I’ll take Jandiroba to win by decision.

Prediction: Virna Jandiroba moneyline (-145 at BET99)
Best Bet: Jandiroba by decision (+190 at BET99)
