Holloway vs Korean Zombie betting preview

Max "Blessed" Holloway is the No. 1 ranked featherweight contender and he might be the best fighter in the promotion who doesn't hold a belt. Holloway formerly held the title and defended it three times before being dethroned by Alexander Volkanovski, who went on to beat him in a pair of rematches.

Those defeats to Volkanovaski are his only losses in this division since 2014, with Blessed racking up a 17-3 record at 145 pounds while also losing to Dustin Poirier when he moved up to lightweight for a title shot.

Blessed is known for his boxing, with elite movement and incredible volume that he can sustain for 25 minutes. Holloway averages a whopping 7.16 significant strikes per minute and is coming off a lopsided victory against Arnold Allen where he outstruck him 147-76.

Chan Sung Jung hasn't fought since an ugly defeat to Volkanovski when he challenged him for the featherweight title 17 months ago. Jung absorbed 102 strikes to the head in that beatdown and his legendary durability gave way by the fourth round, resulting in a TKO loss.

After a lengthy absence from MMA to serve in the South Korean military, Jung has compiled a 4-3 record since returning to the octagon in 2017. Those defeats all came against highly ranked featherweights including Volkanovski, Brian Ortega, and Yair Rodriguez (in a fight where he was headed to a decision win before being knocked out in the final second).

The Korean Zombie has earned his nickname from his ability to keep marching forward and attacking, despite eating shots from his opponents. While he is known for his boxing, he also has an underrated grappling game with eight career wins by submission.

Holloway vs Korean Zombie UFC prediction and best bet

This bout is being billed as a possible retirement fight for KZ, who has taken a ton of damage in his career and his legendary chin might not be able to hold up to his hittable style.

The striking clinics Holloway has put on in recent years against Allen, Rodriguez, and Calvin Kattar have proven that he's clearly the top fighter in this division besides Volk.

Meanwhile, KZ has often come up short against the best fighters and he was pieced up in the striking exchanges by Ortega not long ago. That's bad news when you consider that Holloway is on another level as a striker.

Jung has strong technical boxing but Holloway has faster hands along with better footwork and elusiveness, which will ultimately lead to the Honolulu native getting his hand raised. That said, with such skewed moneyline odds, we need to look elsewhere for betting value.

Prediction: Holloway moneyline (-800 at DraftKings)

There are understandable questions about Jung's chin after his knockout loss to Volk. That said, we saw a more methodical version of Jung two years ago versus Dan Ige and he has historically had an iron chin, even making it to the fourth round against Volk.

Holloway hasn't won by knockout since 2018 and that TKO victory against Ortega came by doctor's stoppage after the fourth round. Holloway rarely displays death-tough power, and if he does get a finish in this one, it will likely come in the later rounds after accumulating damage against KZ.

There are plenty of betting options to bet on this narrative and one of them is the Same Game Parlay option at bet365 where you can parlay the Holloway moneyline with the Over 2.5 rounds at -150.

Pick: Holloway moneyline + Over 2.5 rounds (-150 at bet365)
