Reyes vs Prochazka betting preview

Dominick "The Devastator" Reyes is the No. 3-ranked light heavyweight contender and is coming off a second-round knockout loss to Jan Blachowicz for the vacant 205-pound title last September.

Prior to that defeat, Reyes went the distance against former champ Jon Jones in a close decision loss after beginning his MMA career with a perfect 12-0 mark. The 31-year-old is a dangerous kickboxer who uses his length and kicking ability to attack from a variety of angles.

Procházka is No. 6 in the light heavyweight rankings after making his UFC debut in spectacular fashion with a second-round knockout of Volkan Oezdemir last July. He has a career MMA record of 27-3-1 and has won 11 fights in a row.

Procházka is the former Rizin light heavyweight champion and 17 of his last 18 wins have come by way of KO/TKO, including notable victories over "King Mo" Muhammed Lawal and current Bellator champ Vadim Nemkov. The 28-year-old is a very creative striker that has a high output and knockout power.

Reyes vs Prochazka UFC predictions and betting picks

PREDICTION: Moneyline Reyes (+108) - No sport epitomizes the attitude of "what have you done for me lately" than MMA. One year ago, Reyes supporters were claiming that he was robbed in his close decision loss to the GOAT, Jones. Then he entered his second title shot as a -290 fave against Blachowicz but after getting starched in the second round is now the underdog against a guy with just one fight in the octagon.

While Procházka has plenty of experience with 31 fights under his belt across various promotions, he hasn't faced anybody on Reyes' level of athleticism and kickboxing prowess.

He also has a worrying tendency to keep his hands low which could get him in trouble against the technically sound and accurate striking of Reyes.

Look for The Devastator to use his movement and counterstriking to get back into the win column.

PREDICTION: Method to win Reyes by knockout - While Procházka has an exciting and aggressive style that lends itself to a lot of finishes, he also exposes himself to his opponent's attacks.

Keep in mind that even though he finished Oezdemir in the second round of his UFC debut, Procházka was outstruck 39-26 in the opening round and ate some big shots that had him reeling.

If Procházka continues to keep his hands low and push the pace while relying on his chin to just absorb strikes, he's eventually going to pay the price. Reyes has more than enough knockout power to get the job done.
