Blachowicz vs Teixeira betting preview
Jan Blachowicz will be making his second title defense after outpointing Israel Adesanya at UFC 259 in March. Blachowicz is on a five-fight winning streak and was the underdog for four of those victories, including the bout against Adesanya and his second-round TKO victory against Dominick Reyes for the interim belt in 2020.
The 38-year-old is 9-1 in his last 10 fights with five Performance of the Night bonuses. With his Muay Thai stand-up, Blachowicz is a strong technical striker with power in both his punches and kicks, but he's also an underrated grappler with nine submission wins in his career.
Glover Teixeira has also won five fights in a row, most recently a third-round submission win against Thiago Santos last November. That followed an impressive TKO victory against Anthony Smith in March where he dominated the former contender with his offensive wrestling.
The 41-year-old earned his first title shot against Jon Jones in 2014 but lost by way of unanimous decision. Teixeira has a background in BJJ and is a terror on the mat, with eight career wins by submission and plenty of others coming due to his brutal ground and pound.

Blachowicz vs Teixeira UFC predictions and betting pick
Blachowicz outright (-275)
Teixeira has also been winning as an underdog lately but the veteran will face his toughest task against Blachowicz. While Teixeira has typically relied on his wrestling and grappling ability to grind out victories, Blachowiz is no slouch on the ground himself and the champ does a good job of limiting mistakes.
All Teixeira needs is an inch to pull off a sub, but Blachowicz might not give him that opportunity. Especially if he keeps him on the outside with kicks and distance management.
Although Teixeira finished Santos in his previous bout, he got the worst of the exchanges standing up. Blachowcz should be able to compete enough in the wrestling department to either outpoint or knock out Teixeira when they trade on the feet.
Blachowicz by decision (+240)
Three of Blachowicz's last five wins have come by way of knockout but despite his celebrated "Polish Power" the current champ can win in every way. While we don't see him submitting Teixeira (or even making an attempt to grapple with him), he is more than capable of grinding out a decision victory.
While Teixeira can be a bit too hittable at times and his lateral movement has never been good (even during his prime), he can usually recover from heavy shots and slow things back down to his pace.
Keep in mind that five of Blachowicz's previous 10 victories have been by decision and three of Teixeira's five UFC losses have gone the distance.
Fight to start Round 4 - Yes (-118)
These two have a tendency to rack up finishes but that might make both fighters leery of leaving themselves open early. Blachowicz and Teixeira are both known for patience and often probe with leg kicks during the first two rounds as they feel their opponents out.
Don't be surprised if they are both hesitant to engage in the early going and we see lots of clinch work and circling in the octagon. Expect this fight to make it until the championship rounds.
