Dumont vs Chandler betting preview
Time may be running out for the featherweight division, but recent Invicta transplant Chelsea Chandler looks like she has the goods. The powerful southpaw earned Performance of the Night honors in her UFC debut as she brutalized Julija Stoliarenko last October. Since dropping her pro debut, she’s won her last five fights.
Chandler is a busy striker with respectable power and likes to get dusty. She puts on a lot of pressure with her striking, and the Cesar Gracie student can hold herself well on the ground. Stoliarenko couldn’t weather her offense, and even when she succeeded in taking her down, Chandler was too strong and forced her way back up to end the fight soon after.
This is a significant step up in class for her, but she is equipped to give Dumont trouble. Dumont likes to fight slow, pinning her opponents against the cage and running the clock. She certainly cannot match Chandler’s striking power, so Chandler will have to be prepared to grapple and find scoring opportunities as Dumont tries to slow her down.
Dumont has won her last two fights since dropping a decision to Macy Chiasson. For the most part, Dumont has been a main player at featherweight. She isn’t the strongest of fighters but is defensively sound with her counterpunching and grappling.
The well-rounded Dumont is at her best when she dictates the pace. Her stronger resume should prepare her for the upstart Chandler, and with a strong 67% defense rate against significant strikes, she’ll seek to neutralize her opponent’s best tool.
Dumont tends to start slow, and while she avoided disaster in her last fight against Karol Rosa, it won’t serve her well here. For Dumont to win, she will need to make it ugly and bully her aggressive opponent against the cage while smothering her strikes as she begins to generate momentum.

This is another toss-up bout that figures to go either way. Dumont is a negative fighter, but we’ve seen her get cracked and stopped when her opponents can apply a lot of pressure on her. Chandler also has the size and power that Dumont won’t be able to bully her. I’m going to go with Chandler scoring a minor upset based on her power and activity.
