Best WNBA Player Props Today: Jackson Shines for Sparks

Our WNBA player prop picks for Saturday afternoon believe Sabrina Ionescu will have a busy day in Chicago vs. a productive Kamilla Cardoso, while Rickea Jackson helps the Sparks stay above water vs. the Wings.

While the WNBA is serving up a national TV double-header today, it’s the first matchup that brings the major appeal as the star-studded New York Liberty collide with Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky for the second time this week.

Even with a basement battle between the Los Angeles Sparks and Dallas Wings to follow, there’s a big-time WNBA player props market to explore and a real possibility that both contests could go down to the wire.

I’m turning to a proven sharpshooter and two promising rookies for my three top WNBA picks for the Saturday slate.

Prop bet #1: Sabrina stuffs the stat sheet

The spotlight has eased just a little on this New York Liberty superteam in their second season together, but it continues to be championship-or-bust, especially after an impressive 19-4 start.

It certainly helps that Sabrina Ionescu is on pace for a points-per-game career year. She’s up to 19 ppg after going past the 20-point mark in three straight contests, and I’m picking Ionescu as a standout performer again this afternoon.

Though the Ionescu Over 19.5 points prop grabbed my attention, there’s more juice in the odds for this points + rebounds + assists line.

Sabrina has been an assists machine this season, including a stretch in June where she had eight or more dimes in six straight outings. She’s an underrated rebounder too, posting five or more boards three times already this month.

She just barely hit the Over on this number in Thursday’s win over the Chicago Sky, and I like her chances of getting most of the way to this total on points alone.

Even when the shooting efficiency isn’t there, the volume usually is. Ionescu has averaged almost 20 field goals per game so far in July – and she’s attempted at least nine 3-pointers in eight of her past 10 contests.

With a primetime stage and a fiery opponent, Sabrina should be in her element here, and that paves the way for a vintage do-it-all performance.

Sabrina Ionescu prop: Over 30.5 points + assists + rebounds (+100 at bet365)

Prop bet #2: Crashing Cardoso

The Angel Reese double-double streak has become a must-watch storyline in the WNBA, with the Chicago rookie taking her tally to 15 in a row on Thursday. But don’t sleep on her frontcourt partner Kamilla Cardoso, who’s more than capable of crashing the glass herself.

The Sky are one of the few teams who can match up against the Liberty’s Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart on the boards, and every rebound is going to be a physical battle this afternoon.

Cardoso has racked up 10 or more rebounds in six of her last 10 games, in part benefitting from all the attention on boxing out Reese, and this O/U line feels favorable for the rookie out of South Carolina.

Her playing time is the wildcard here. Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon went to a smaller line-up in the fourth quarter against New York in midweek, limiting Cardoso to just 20 minutes – and Chicago paid the price.

But I expect a different approach today to combat the Liberty’s size in the paint, and that should give Cardoso a clearer path to a big rebounds tally.

Kamilla Cardoso prop: Over 8.5 rebounds (-115 at bet365)

Prop bet #3: Rickea gets rolling

For a Los Angeles Sparks team that’s painfully short on consistent scorers, a visit to the Dallas Wings feels like the perfect remedy. After all, the Wings have given up 100 points or more in back-to-back outings.

The bigger question is: who’s going to join the party and give Dearica Hamby some support? L.A. is searching for a secondary scorer, and Rickea Jackson is doing her best to fill the void.

Jackson hasn’t been fazed by the extra responsibility in her rookie season, and she enters the weekend on the heels of 12 or more points in four of her last five games, including a 22-point outburst against the Phoenix Mercury last weekend.

With Hamby averaging 14 FGA a game, there’s still a chunk of shots up for grabs, and no one on this Sparks roster has looked more comfortable than Jackson in the sidekick role.

She’s made nine of her last 21 triples, and I’m picking her for a bounce-back effort here after finishing with just six points against the Minnesota Lynx last time out.

Rickea Jackson prop: Over 11.5 points (+100 at bet365)
