Best WNBA Player Props for 9-19: Best Bets for Howard, Atkins & Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale continues to carry Dallas' offense, and we expect the four-time WNBA All-Star to maintain her high shooting volume and dominate in tonight's matchup against Las Vegas.

It’s the final day of the WNBA regular season, and the postseason picture is coming into focus — but, for some teams, there’s no chance to put their feet up yet.

The WNBA player props market is a little trickier tonight, with the risk of playoff-bound teams resting their starters, so I’m focusing on teams with something to play for or those that may scale back workloads.

Headlined by Arike Ogunbowale, let's delve into my WNBA picks for Thursday, September 19.

WNBA player prop bets for September 19

Today's best WNBA player props bets

Prop bet #1: Rhyne Howard Under 21.5 points + assists

-125 at FanDuel

The Atlanta Dream control their own fate for the No. 8 seed — and they might catch a break tonight if the New York Liberty sit their starters after locking up the top spot.

When it’s all said and done, I expect the Dream to punch their ticket for the playoffs, but this O/U feels too high for guard Rhyne Howard. Howard hasn’t gone past 15 points in any of her last four games, and she’s only averaging 3.1 assists per game this year.

No question, the scoring potential is there – Howard showed that with 30+ points in three straight games earlier this month — but I have my doubts about her hitting those heights here.

In her third year in the pros, Howard’s 3-point accuracy has dipped to 32% and she’s gone 16-for-55 from the field overall in her last four outings. She’s also only posted more than three assists once in that span.

Of course, if the New York starters are on the court for at least a portion of tonight’s game, I’ll feel even better about this prop pick. As long as Tina Charles is still churning out big stat lines for Atlanta, it leaves Howard as a very capable sidekick, and I like the Under for this combo prop.

Prop bet #2: Ariel Atkins Over 14.5 points

-120 at FanDuel

Ariel Atkins couldn’t have done much more to keep the Washington Mystics afloat this season, and the stage is set for an aggressive finish against the Indiana Fever tonight. While it looks like Caitlin Clark will feature for the Fever, they've locked up the No. 6 seed, and as a result, I expect light minutes for the Indiana starters.

That should unleash the scoring potential in this Mystics backcourt, and Atkins is coming off a relentless 22-point effort in Tuesday’s loss to the Liberty where she made eight of her 14 shots. After a few quieter games, that was a welcome return to her sharpshooting form, and she also poured in 16 points over the weekend.

Even with Brittney Sykes capable of big moments, Atkins has established herself as the primary scoring option for Washington, and she should walk into double-digit field goal attempts in this must-win contest. The Mystics are still fighting for the No. 8 seed and Atkins & Co. will throw everything at the Fever here.

Prop bet #3: Arike Ogunbowale Over 21.5 points

-115 at bet365

I’m going back to the well one more time with this prop pick. Arike Ogunbowale has been a scoring machine for the Dallas Wings this year, and there’s been no let-up, even with the team way off the playoff pace.

Ogunbowale logged 37 minutes on Sunday against Indiana, scoring 27 points on 10-for-17 shooting, including five triples, and I’m backing her to wrap up the regular season with a similar output here.

You can pencil in Ogunbowale for plenty of volume. She’s had at least 17 field goal attempts in 11 of her last 12 games, and she’s averaging 22.2 points per game overall.

Offense hasn’t been the problem for the Wings this year. They’ve scored 84.2 ppg, fourth best in the league, and Ogunbowale has added to her reputation as one of the WNBA’s top bucket-getters.

Though Dallas is taking on a Las Vegas Aces team with the No. 3 seed still in their sights, I see Ogunbowale bringing her A-game and I’m comfortable taking the Over on this line.
