i read this after i posted basically the same thing...

it was well known that the MAC (an already weak conference) was in an especially weak year... over the past few years they've had legit NFL prospects quarter-backing their top teams... this year there was nothing that resembled a strong team... and NIU took advantage of that by racking up wins against all of the weakest teams in that weak conference...

gcnmoo... what is it that impresses you about a team that has nothing resembling a quality win... nothing even close to a quality win?

yes... it is all relative... that is why i'm betting on Fresno St!  relative to the WAC, Fresno is just an ok team... relative to the MAC, Fresno is a powerhouse...

Scroll up to my previous posts referencing the data I've collected from both teams.  An average team would not do to the MAC what NIU did to the MAC.  An average team would do basically the same thing Fresno St did in the WAC.  NIU was a better team on the field this season than Fresno St was.  That is my argument.  Weren't you just laying 17 2 weeks ago on this NIU team vs Miami, OH.  Granted they didn't play well and lost, but I don't think you would have layed that many pts with Fresno St on a neutral field vs Mia, OH.

1) not only would an average team do to the MAC what NIU did... below average teams (like Kansas St and Iowa St) would sweep the MAC, including NIU (which they did)...

2) you are correct... i wouldn't lay 17 with Fresno over Miami, Oh on a neutral field... but i would sure as hell lay 4...

guess that should have been Illinois and Iowa St... but Kansas St would have swept the MAC, as well...

Iowa St would not have swept the MAC.  I seriously doubt that Kansas St would either. If QB Harnish would have played that game, NIU would have beaten Iowa St IMO.  NIU should not be penalized for only losing by 6 and outgaining Illinois by 0.53 yards per play at Illinois.  Nor should they be penalized for crushing all the bad teams that they played.  I'm also not suggesting to lay off Fresno St, I'm just throwing out some counterarguments for that game.  Fresno St very well could win that game going away as I've been wrong plenty of times before and still am not convinced that NIU is a great bet either.

I think it is a game best to pass, or bet small on NIU but that is just my opinion.

Its hard to say sweep, but if Iowa St and K St were in the MAC, they would certainly be bigtime preseason favorites to win the MAC.  And they would have a decent chance of going undefeated in the MAC.

Just my opinion....

Had Fresno as a 1 unit play, but that is bordering on a lean.  At best, it is going to be a very small play.

Im concerned about the weather affecting the ability to pass for Fresno.  N Ill should be able to run the ball, and if it is a run only type of game limited by wind, I dont want to be on Fresno.

Will monitor throughout the day, as of now I have 1 unit on it, but will post if I sell it.  Either way it is a small play or nothing....

Not seeing much wind in Boise for gametime, maybe 5mph.

There will be snow, which could actually help the passing game.

Im sticking with 1 unit on Fresno ML.

UTEP's defense really came to play today.

1st over of the bowl season, I think last year had a ton of overs early too......

On average, roughly 2 more ppg are scored in bowl games than regular season.
