He is not a saint, but you will find out soon enough that the money allegations will not bite him or Auburn. The people reporting this were from Miss St back in january who just lost a player they thought a lock that would have not only been the best ever at that school, but would have catapulted them into the national spot light, but did it for a rival conference school instead. Right after he committed to Auburn they reacted hastily out pure shock and hatred for Auburn for getting the player they had in fold, costing these recruiters thousands of dollars. They waited months to turn it over to the SEC because they have much more to lose here then Auburn as time will tell and fully regreted making this mistake, I promise you. Your sources as usual are a joke. I think this is where you call me a child as before....

You are just like everyone else that wants to just not even pay attention to blatant things that are happening right now. Vegas even pulled the game so how is some studge like you know anything. I will take an insider betting big on Georgia enough to make Vegas pull the line then listen to you. This is a HUGE story. They were talking about Bush for years before they finally did it all. Bush just returned his Heisman 2 months ago and all of this started 3 years ago. You have no freakin clue but one thing that looks really bad is the NCAA looked like a bunch of chumps last time with Bush and now they are not screwing around. This is a FACT They are bringing in STATE AND FEDERAL REGULATORS. That is not a joke and they dont do that unless they have solid evidence. If you dont think this will affect Newton and the Auburn team you are nuts. These are 19 and 20 year old kids that may not be now but will eventually be questioned and there will be a wide spread investigation. How you can not say it wont happen is boggling my mind. Look what Bush did and Newton already got kicked off a college campus for stealing. You dont think that matters. You are just blind to the facts. Anything that comes from the coach means nothing he just wants to win. Ever watch Blue Chips.

As I know you guys are tripping all over yourselves to see who gets to be the first to execute Newton before the NCAA even bothers to conduct their investigation on the matter, but a couple of questions for you.
I know it will be difficult to slow down and ponder these questions as the lynch mob may leave you behind.
So ESPN has released a story claiming that 2 different MSU 'recruiters' have 2 stories, one recruiter saying Cecil Newton told him it would take "more than a scholarship" to bring his son to MSU, and the other recruiter saying Cam phoned him to express regret about changing his commitment, stating his father had chosen Auburn for him because "the money was too much".
MSU has indicated it followed the rules and properly reported it immediately to the SEC in January when the Kenny Rogers/John Bond interlude regarding a request for 180K to play supposedly occurred. At that time the SEC requested more information. MSU got them more information 7 months later, in July of 2010 because they were apparently dealing with other NCAA inquiries.
So my question is, if these incidents took place, why did the SEC come out yesterday and officially state that none of this information was reported in either January or July of 2010 when MSU submitted information to the SEC?
The only people that can be 'recruiters' are coaches per the NCAA. Otherwise MSU has some explaining to do.
So if I believe the ESPN story, those 2 'recruiters' are in fact coaches on the MSU staff.
So am I to believe that 2 coaches on the MSU staff both had separate conversations with Cecil and Cam, both of which requested or had to do with money, yet somehow they didn't bother to turn that information over to the SEC initially in January, or in July when they finally provided the follow up information the SEC had requested 7 months earlier?
Seriously?
I'll take it a step further.
Let's just say the Cam & Cecil conversations occurred. So why did MSU continue to recruit him up to the very day he signed with Auburn?
So now am I to believe that potentially Cam & Cecil Newton requested money, and another guy, Kenny Rogers, was requesting 180K from John Bond to sign Newton, yet the MSU coaching staff knew about these things(and at least reported the Rogers request), but didn't back off of recruiting him and cut all ties immediately???
Seriously? A recruit and his father request money and you didn't tell them to F off and immediately cease & desist, report it to the SEC, and move on? Instead you recruited him to the very bitter end?
Seriously?

You guys do realize that Auburn has not been accused of anything right? I would guess the most vocal anti-Auburn voices in this thread hated AU before any of this MSU issue started. Also your prejudices and pre-conceived opinions based on the word of a guy who has already changed his story means nothing to AU people. Three head coaches who recruited Cam Newton have already said they never heard or saw anything illegal. But because you watched a media network boost their ratings with a shock story based on half-ass reporting at the expense of a young mans name you are somehow knowledgeable enough to be both jury and judge.

Wow that's impressive. One of the best posts I've read regarding this entire situation.
Nice work. Spot on.

Blah, blah, blah, sit back and relax. we know Newton is going to play! Let the NCAA do what their paid to do! These kind of accusations won't go away for a while! Is there anything wrong with wanting to see Auburn lose? No? Go Georgia! The Newton allegations will be resolved at some point!

The most comical part of this entire scenario is the fact that a team, any team, would be willing to pay 180K for Cam Newton back in January.
People only see the dominant football player of today and say who wouldn't pay for him.
Auburn wasn't even sure if Newton would be able to win the starting QB job for this year. They took a chance and made a spot for him in the recruiting class because of his raw athleticism, as they knew if he didn't work out at QB they could move him to TE or LB.

Man, you are definitely a die hard homer! Cam could shoot someone and you would still defend this guy! This is a long process ahead, it will not happen overnight! Their is solid stacked evidence against this dude! The FBI and IRS need more than a couple of days to solve this matter! Take a deep breathe and just cheer for your team! Cam will play! BUT I HOPE HE GETS HIS ASS HANDED TO HIM!

I find it fascinating how UF fans insist on talking about Tebow whenever Cam is talked about. Reminds me of a little kid getting jealous because his sister got an A on her spelling test. I can hear jwheels screaming, "What about me? Look at me!!"
Hey gators we get it. Tebow was a great if not the greatest college QB of all time. As an SEC fan I cheered on most of his wins. Congrats. So we are sorry if someone compared Cam Newtons ability on the field to Tebow. We are sorry if UF or Urban ever felt uncomfortable because Cam is leading AU to a great season. We are also sorry that MSU and Mullen embarrassed Urban. So please stop hating Cam for being good enough to get compared to Tebow?

My recollection of recruiting back in January makes me a die hard homer?
You've lost it. I know your ready to take him out back and shoot him. Unfortunately you'll have to wait as he still has some football games to play.
I follow AU football & recruiting just about year round. I'm just telling you the prevailing sentiment as it was back in Dec/Jan. You can go find the scouting reports on him yourself. His passing ability was a huge question mark

Article just posted on ESPN yea ESPN doesnt know anything this story is getting bigger every single day.
Kenny Rogers, the former Mississippi State player who ESPN.com reported allegedly sought money from Mississippi State to sign Cam Newton to a national letter of intent, said Thursday that Newton's father, Cecil, put a price tag on his son.
Rogers, in an interview with ESPN 103.3 in Dallas, was asked if Cecil Newton ever told him how much money it would take to get his son to play for Mississippi State. "Yes he did," Rogers said. Asked how much, he said: "Anywhere between $100,000 and $180,000."
Later in the interview, Rogers said he and Cecil Newton first talked after Cam Newton left Florida following the 2008 season. In the course of their conversations, he said Cecil Newton told him "it's not gonna be free this time."
Rogers said he only was involved with Cecil Newton about Mississippi State.
Rogers said on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2009, he and Cecil Newton followed each other out of Starkville, Miss., after the Ole Miss-Mississippi State game. He said Newton asked him: "What do you think is going to happen? You think it's going to go through? "
He said he was referred to a Mississippi State booster named Bill Bell. Rogers said he left Bell a message telling him he was with Mr. Newton, who wanted to know if the deal was going to happen.
Bell has not commented publicly on the allegation.
Rogers said he didn't know if Cam Newton knew about the request for money. He said he did not meet Cam Newton until Nov. 27, 2009.
Rogers said he didn't know anything about Newton's recruitment at Auburn, or any other school. He said he had "no idea" why Newton chose Auburn and had no idea if Auburn paid Newton.
Rogers spoke with his attorney on the phone. The attorney, Doug Zeit, said there was never any discussion about Rogers getting paid out of the money Cecil Newton was asking. Mississippi State officials declined comment on Rogers' interview Thursday.
Auburn declined comment through spokesman Kirk Sampson.
Last Friday, in an interview with ESPN 103.3 FM in Dallas, Rogers denied having solicited Newton to Mississippi State.
Earlier this week, ESPN reported that two sources who recruit for Mississippi State said that Cecil and Cam Newton, in separate phone conversations, told them that Cam Newton's college choice would be part of a pay-for-play plan.
Prior to Newton's commitment to Auburn, one of the recruiters said Cecil Newton told him it would take "more than a scholarship" to bring his son to Mississippi State, a request the source said the school would not meet. Cecil Newton also referred the recruiter to a third person who would provide more specifics, the source said.
After Newton committed to Auburn, another source said an emotional Cam Newton phoned another recruiter to express regret that he wouldn't be going to Mississippi State, stating that his father, Cecil, had chosen Auburn for him because "the money was too much."
Mississippi State compliance officials relayed the alleged conversations to Southeastern Conference compliance officials in January, according to two other sources close to the football program. The school said that because of it didn't get information requested to the SEC until July 2010 because of "time-consuming eligibility issues involving non-football matters in the winter and spring of 2010."
The NCAA is investigating allegations surrounding the Newtons in regards to the recruiting process. Cam Newton, who is having a Heisman-caliber season for No. 2 Auburn, declined comment.
A week ago, ESPN.com reported that a man who said he represented Newton allegedly was soliciting a six-figure payment to secure his signature on a national letter of intent. Former Mississippi State quarterback John Bond told ESPN.com a teammate of Bond's at Mississippi State in the early 1980s contacted him soon after Newton's official visit to Mississippi State during the Ole Miss game in December, and said he was representing Newton.
Sources told ESPN.com the former teammate was Rogers, who played at Mississippi State from 1982 to '85. Bond said an NCAA investigator came to Mississippi to meet with him in early September, as well as with Mississippi State officials.
When interviewed by ESPN.com last Thursday at the family's home in Atlanta, Cecil Newton denied any wrongdoing.
Rogers has a company called Elite Football Preparation, which holds camps in Alabama, Chicago and Mississippi, and matches football prospects with colleges.
Information from The Associated Press and ESPN.com's Pat Forde, Mark Schlabach and Chris Low is included in this report.

Hey man, nothing wrong with being a homer! I am one myself, but what is wrong is wrong! just don't be disappointed when this is all concluded and done!

Hey man, nothing wrong with being a homer! I am one myself, but what is wrong is wrong! just don't be disappointed when this is all concluded and done!
Wow that is amazing. This joker has given two completely different stories in the period of 6 days. Anything he has said is now irrelevant. He must be a real low life.

First, I will say I played UGA @ 9.5 on Tuesday morning.
Second, I will say that Handicapper has claimed to have 'inside info' in the past. The results of that game? His team didnt even come close to covering - not even close.
Just putting the facts out there. Maybe the 'inside info' guy is due.

If Rogers has brokered other players, he needs to name those names as well. If he doesn't name them, then how can we trust what he is saying?
If Rogers has not brokered other players, then he has no credibility. Why would the Newtons seek him out and make him this offer?
He sort of loses his credibility, imo, because his story has changed a few times.
First, he and Cecil never said a word about paying for Cam. Now its this?
The whole story also broke on a conversation that supposedly took place between Rogers and John Bond. But when asked direcrtly, they each said no conversation took place.
Its a weird story, for sure.
