@nature1970 I think I get your point. There are bad folks. At least with them you know where you stand. There are bad cops — we have all had dealing with one. This is bad because they are supposed to be a trusted person you can respect. But when they do a disservice to the badge it is harder to comprehend. At least with the ‘bad guy on the street’ — you expect it.
Somewhere a conversation of what do we expect from the system of correctional facility. What do we envision as a majority of humans entering the penal system.
Because what we are getting is more hardened criminal in return .
This was not the objective
Crime and punishment and the antiquated system of torture is not working and we need to address what do we want in return of the billions of dollars invested into the system.
Some where a discussion must developed
Because no way this was the vision of what the correctional system was made to do.
I have been a firm believer in reprogramming process. Over time turning most criminals unto productive members of soicity through psychological reprogramming and debriefing techniques but it is not enough when released to the street a systematic approach dealing with housing addiction and employment the fundamental principles to sustained developement of the individuals
To stop the cycle of repeating jail sentences and enduring more criminal behaviours.
This might viewed as an extreme position but it might stimulate a discussion of what we want as a society.
And yes to whom much responsibility is given much more is expected.

Especially asking a person with a high school education or at best an associate's in criminology to be a cop a lawyer a counselor a psychologist and case worker to a master's degree in each academic displine.
We are over Burdening a security team with too many distractions into areas way beyond what would ever be expected from a patrol officer.

That being said training is a very broad term,

@Raiders22 Where are your numbers coming from and what are the parameters for incident? Being shot? Being shot at? A suspect brandishing a weapon? My numbers are concrete and definitive. 47 officers killed by guns in 2020. That even after the fallout of George Floyd led to officers being targeted. 47. Down from 51 in 2019. Cops aren't being mowed down at alarming rates. Not to mention the fact that even your own numbers coincide with the a dramatic uptick in the use of deadly force. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The numbers are all over and in any study. Easy to find. For example:

I agree with what the defense said in their closing statements today...every one focuses on the nine plus minutes he was on the ground, but the eighteen plus minutes he struggled and resisted arrest is where the real focus should be. If we don't have that and he just complies George Floyd is still alive today and we don't have another media circus.

Have to agree on there, I think he will get second-degree manslaughter

I have to agree. The toxicology, while showing drugs in his system, also shows he was not asphyxiated (blood 98% oxygenated)........ that & he was saying he couldn't breath while resisting & yelling before he was ever on the ground. I'll also bet Chauvin gets Man-2.

Please...He died on that day because he decided to say NO and not comply with commands of the arresting officers and use every nob aggression counter measure to resist the process. Tragically and undeniably, police officers have to deal with disturbed, suicidal, and downright bad people every day. This has become regular event for law enforcement as it is with people going to hospitals and fanning for drugs taking you valuable time and resources for people who need them...I say screw George Floyd ,Danute Wright and the rest of these life time mutants Thank god for the 99.9 % of great folks in blue and the jobs they do. Also George Floyd should have made the arrest done in seconds as he has had plenty of practice!

One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: “Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident.” This is true. Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another.
Some estimates say that two million Americans are victims of violent crimes every year, a tragic, staggering number, perhaps an all-time record rate of violent crime. But there are almost 300 million Americans, which means that the odds of being a victim of violent crime is considerably less than one in a hundred on any given year. Furthermore, since many violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, the actual number of violent citizens is considerably less than two million.
Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation: We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.
I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin’s egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful. For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators. “Then there are the wolves,” the old war veteran said, “and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy.” Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.
“Then there are sheepdogs,” he went on, “and I’m a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf.” Or, as a sign in one California law enforcement agency put it, “We intimidate those who intimidate others.”
If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath--a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.

Now that this is all over, I feel two things about this.
1) EVERY jury from this day forward in these types of trials need to be SEQUESTERED
2) They should not show the trial "live" and show it after it is over. Because now with all the social media and the doxing that can be done who can assure that anyone will get a fair trial? Maxine Waters in doing what she did should have been arrested for inciting violence.
This trial really has changed the legal system and I feel for the worst.
