after 14 years its nearly impossible to convince anyone we are on the up and up. just a negative stigma and right now we are still rebuilding... Lee, Reynolds and Guerrero will all be gone... just trying to buy some time for our minor league system, yet still squeak out some wins and not be as pathetic as the previous years.
Wieters still has a lot more growth potential and I'm excited about that.
Reynolds, Lee, and Vlad make the team better this year but they are not longterm pieces. Reynolds is what he is and the O's needed a power bat. He will be fine for this year and next until Josh Bell or Schoop or whoever takes over at 3rd.
Machado will hopefully be up in 2 years. Kid will finally give the O's a SS they been missing since Bordick left.

JP has more power right now.....I haven't seen him catch very often, but watch the O's games a lot....Matt's defense is the best I've seen since Pudge @Texas ,or Bench or Sangullien from the Pirates back in the 70's..
Weiters game management, release, accuracy and blocking the plate is untouchable in the majors today from what I've seen...
An O's fan,no doubt, but not many guys his age would I take over Weiters today...
Hi Sparky....
I hedged my bet and stayed out of this conversation...for the most part.

This thread is like a train wreck that I don't want to read but just find myself compelled to read. This guy is such a homer it is absolutely unbearable.
Come on man gimme a break with the crap you are spewing...you sound like such a clown I feel bad for you.
Its cool to be a big fan and support your guys, but you lose so much credibility with your approach that any valid points you do make no one can take seriously.

I've missed Bordick for a very long time. Got his autograph when I was 7. I've liked the bat that Hardy has offered at SS and its a vast improvement over Izturis.. I hope Hardy sticks around and I hope Bell has gotten enough time in the minors to be ready for the majors.
When he was called up last when we literally had no one on the roster he looked lost at the plate.
I'm definitely liking Showalters attitude and I have seen a lot of growth from the team that has been sorely missed here in the 410.

I completely agree with this post. This dude is the ultimate homer. Any attempt to engage him in a discussion concerning the O's is futile, as he is unable to approach the subject objectively.

I'm looking at the numbers and, I'm sorry, but they don't mean a damn thing to me. Brendan Ryan is better than everyone mentioned. What is that trying to tell me? That Brendan Ryan more valueable than Pujols?

Said they would be around .500 last year but with all the injuries and that awful start, that quickly went up in flames.
Said they would be a 77-85 win team this year.
Those are some real homer predictions.
Then I explain how Reynolds is not as bad as his batting average since he provides power but it goes over peoples heads.
Then I explain how Wieters is the best defensive catcher and how important defense is and that because of his defense he can be less productive offensively yet still be a better all around player and provide more value to a team than an offensive talented catcher who hits for 40 points higher OPS.
People on here have no idea how important defense has become in baseball. God forbid any of you people bashing actually look at baseball rosters and see that offense only players are being phased out. There are more and more utility players and plus defensive players taking the roster spots once held by players who could mash the ball but be a butcher in the field.
This has only happened recently because there were no stats or evidence to quantify how important defense is in baseball. All people cared about were HRs and offensive numbers. Baseball is now reverting back to defense and pitching and more of a small ball type game. This is not the steroid era anymore.
The League OPS has fallen for 3 consecutive years and pitching ERA and stats have become better during those years. The days of players like Adam Dunn playing the field are over.

At his position he has provided more value than Pujols has at his Position.
Its a very simple concept to understand. Its too bad you are incompetent to look up what the stats mean.

Jpero, as you can clearly see after 6 pages of the epic homer fail there are ways to go about it properly like GKANTZIP other than spewing this garbage for 2 days. Im not the only one who sees this. When the O's hit 500 maybe then ill even acknowledge them as an average team but they wont hit that mark again this season and will remain mediocre regardless of that awesome Wieters defense.

So are you saying I should act like all you Blue Jays and Yankee fans in this thread and just a complete and utter imbecile and just continually repeat...
Your team sucks, they suck, get over it they suck....
With no explanation or reasoning or backing for such statements.
Cause you can't back up those statements with contextual arguments. The past 13 years don't hold any weight with today.
The fact that Orioles have a better record than the Blue Jays since Buck took over is meaningless to you yet you for some reason say the Orioles suck and are awful and teh Blue Jays are great.
You dont want to realize that Matusz hasn't pitched a game this year and he is the best pitcher on the team. 1/4 of the season without their best starter and a myriad of other injuries.

look at their record THIS year, and its only going to get worse. Im not here jawing off that the jays are the best thing since sliced bread, but things look alot better here than for the O's.
